Right now I'm thinking...

gm snoop, stealing, stealth, hiding

90 magery
90 resist
90 wrestle
30 med

anyone have a combo that they like better?

More med, the ability to gate multiple times can be important. Not to mention, spam mini heal in the face of pvp.

more med will have to mean less of something. what do you think?

More med less resist. If you get synced it's not going to matter that you have high resist by any standard, and vs 1-2 normal mage toolboxes it's easy to stay alive. If you run out of mana (with resist even) you are pretty much dead though.

I don't think resist is necessary at all even. I don't have any resist and it's still easy to stay alive and escape dangerous situations. edit: you might want to consider getting some tracking, it always turns out to be pretty useful.

I like the smog boggler's suggestion.

I like Meditation more than resist on a thief. Not because it's more useful in battle, but because it's more useful out of battle. If you're in-battle, the only reason you should care about surviving is for moral victories. Mage thieves shouldn't carry anything that would be a big deal to lose anyways.

I disagree. I would posit that my mage thief has more loot than the majority of pvpers here.

the template should fit your play style, 100 resist and 0 med can be very effective if you're not prone to getting into fights on it

100 med and 0 resist is fine too, I think its better to have a clear weakness in a template so you know exactly what you need to compensate for rather than trying to have it be a little bit of everything "just in case"

You may survive a dump but if people realize they just socked you with a double damage e-bolt...they may just realise they can use that hardly played mana vampire on you without fear of being resisted after you waste a bunch of mana on mini heals through a heavy handed harm spam.

Want to see how funny zero resist is? Pop a magic trapped pouch without it. Normally it does about 1 damage...big difference.

I had only 53 resist at the time and Gatsu's red (Bob something) tried to Para Explosion on me. That 53 resist saved me...I got hit twice as I was lured out from macroing and wasnt properly equipped...so I got the one two rinse repeat until I was able to make the break.

I am just saying...stealth thieves dont stand toe to toe with anyone, they are all about nabbing something quickly then escaping for the most part.

You can do without resist, but dont plan on standing around.

I was just making a statement about how it was implied that you can mini heal out of anything against a mage.
But anyway...

You want both then do something like.

Stealth 80
Hide
Steal
Snoop 80
Resist 80
Wrestling
Magery 80
Meditation 80

I've fielded on chars with 0 resist plenty on this shard, no one wastes time using mana vampire. When they notice they are doing a lot of damage you have about 15 seconds max to either gtfo or kill them.
