Housing Security
I've been reading up about all the various housing security methods and have a question regarding a seemingly simple workaround. Is there a significant downside to simply making your house private, leave your key in a secure container, then when you get back to your house making it public to gain entry, then going private again? I'm not planning on having vendors at my current house, so that's not an issue. Any thoughts?
Re: Housing Security
I don't see any downsides other than it being it bit of a hassle each time. Make sure you do a detect hidden when entering your house.
In my private house i prefer locking down a keyring in front of the house and using a macro to unlock/open/lock the front door.
In my public house i use tables and a trash barrel to prevent visitors from looting my chests.

Re: Housing Security
Eh, before the whole hang your keys up at the door thing I used to just make new keys each time I entered my house and threw them away after making sure there was no one inside. If I was Gating from inside I would lock down the old key, make a new one upon re-entering and then threw them both away later. That might be a security issue if you use a trash barrel as part of your main barricade however if you somehow leave the door unlocked.
It can happen, but not if you are careful.
Having a utility House sitter with Low level tracking won't hurt. You know the Gater/Healer/Item Identifier guy who also cooks, cleans and redecorates lol
