Don't know if getting dragons on the water like this is legal or not.

err what do you mean by legal....
can you gate in a bunch of dragons into the ocean...sure why not. I don't know how you would get them back though if you died
I mean what if a tamer just walked through a gate that someone cast off their boat into town?

One time I walked through a gate in town and discovered that some idiot had cast a gate while on the plank of his boat then moved away, and when I was stuck there on the water he killed me. I paged a gm saying I was stuck and Braden came and told me that was illegal to do and that he was going to bring the evil-doers to justice. I just thought these were 2 similar things.

It isnt illegal to do which is pretty much the point.
You can cast a gate on a moving boat. Who can really stop that?

If I'm not mistaken, that was miller doing that. Braden jailed him, then checked and found it was legal to do and put him back on the boat . I'm just going off millers story here though

We used to do it all the time when there weren't any fishermen out and about.

SoS did it before JRC was founded - but the trick was actually known on OSI so you can thank the people who played UO before you were born pristiq.

It would be retarded if it was "illegal". Casting a gate on a boat...not the casters fault someone steps thru a random gate that they dont know anything about (where it leads, who casted it, etc) You are asking to be PKd if you step thru a gate and dont know who casted it. ESPECIALLY if no one comes out of the gate. A little tip for newbs: if you see a gate open, and no one comes out of it, Its bait for the curious. Someone is most likely on the other side waiting to dispell it as soon as you step thru

Well you can pass through a gate as a ghost and hidden so not every gate that pops for no reason is a trap. Also you can Dispel a gate from one side but the other side that isn't dispelled will still function making it a one way trip. So if you had one guy casting gate and another casts dispel field from a house...you can jump through and dispel the gate allowing the gater to detect hidden and then go through without worry someone snuck in.

Yes, gating people into the water is indeed legal.

To get unstuck in this situation, you have two options:

1.) [Easiest] Log out and then back in and you will be on land.
2.) [Takes 10 minutes] Click Help > Stuck and you will be teleported to a random town assuming you have not abused the Stuck system.
