Entrails
I remember being able to chop up a player's head and get a brain, and chop up the torso to get entrails and a heart, back in the day. Does anyone else remember this? I'm not sure if this is from before t2a, or whether you could also do this during the era.
Re: Entrails
Wow, I remember that.
Friends and I created a group of doctors, dressed in "scrubs" and kicked a heart around in front of Minoc bank.
Ahhh good times.

Re: Entrails
I want! Did doing this cause you to lose any karma or anything? Or was it considered good clean science and thus disecting people for body parts was ok.

Re: Entrails
i think there was a karma loss associated with this, but it may have depended on the karma of the person you were dismembering. i dont remember for sure. i definatly remember this though
Re: Entrails
I believe only the initial phase of cutting up the body reduces karma.
Re: Entrails
Does cutting a innocent body yield a criminal flag?

Re: Entrails
Probably not Wylan, as all body parts (once the corpse has already been chopped) just show up as grey items.

Re: Entrails
Here are some staff meeting project notes I took from a teamspeak meeting when I helped setup a runuo player corpse carving system on Backtrack99 a few years ago, a server we were running around the time of the death of Azeroth's Famous In Por Ylem Server.... May they both rest in peace.
I remember it being fairly easy to throw together. We did have some initial issues with figuring out how to setup the decay rates. It was one of the only projects I had the chance to work on while I was staff there prior to it's demise from lack of funding...
Please clarify if anything is incorrect here and I will update the list if what you say is enough proof to jog my memory of good old pre-UOR OSI.. This was the way we did it and players were happy with the results.
Please remember that these notes were from changes we made to our server to be what we all rememebered from OSI as a staff group and may not be 100% accurate to the T2A era.
Player Corpse Carving System
Carving a blue corpse flags a player grey and warrants guard retalliation in town if guards are called by a player or NPC for the same time span as other criminal actions.
Carving a grey/red corpse does not flag a player grey and does not warrant guard retalliation in town.
Carving player corpses, blue/grey/red only depreciates karma up to the -2 karma level -1250 to -2499. The karma, fame, and blue/grey/red status of the player corpse has no bearing to the depreciation amount to karma. It is always the same.
Carving a blue players corpse is the only corpse carving action that warrants guard retalliation if done in town and depreciates karma.
Carving corpse carving bi product items does not depreciate karma.
Carving a players corpse results in an abdomen, two arms, head and two legs.
Carving a head results in a brain and skull.
Carving an abdomen results in an entrails, heart, liver and ribcage.
Carving an Arm or Leg results in a bone.
All items related to player corpse carving can be carved with any bladed weapon.
All actions related to corpse carving result in blood spots on the ground that decay at a slightly slower rate than the corpse carving bi product items.
Corpse carving bi product items decay at a faster rate than normal items.
Corpse carving bi product items do not decay if carried in a players backpack, secure house container, locked down in a house or in the bank.
All corpse carving bi product items show the players name associated with the item.

Re: Entrails
I don't remember being able to get skeletal parts from a cut up body.
Re: Entrails
You know what... I didn't either but the admin fought for it tooth and nail.. Maybe it was an early pre t2a osi feature that was later taken out? It was pretty close to what I remembered. I used to pk fools roaming the brit xroads and locked down all their body parts inside my house...
I just want to say I think this would be an awesome game nostalgia feature to bring back to UO here.

Re: Entrails
If anyone can show any evidence of this being on OSI I'd appreciate it. If the evidence shows it in T2A era, I'll certainly put it in.
I don't remember this at all, and I carved and horded everything I could find back in the day.
It's a neat feature for sure.

Re: Entrails
I definitely remember this feature. However, I believe the parts were made to decay around the t2a era no matter where it was located at in the world. I remember being bummed out about not being able to collect heads for display in houses after that change. I probably could find body carvings somewhere in the stratics '99 site.
