UOSA PvP Champions League - January 17th Start

I will be holding an ongoing event - a contest of fighters.
It will have posted and updated rankings of contestants as the season goes on. At the end of the season there will be elimination rounds until there is a champion.

Matches will take place in various locations around the map and at the convenience of the two fighters with a witness moderator or a video of each match

Edit: There seems to be alot of confusion about this point, or no one is reading the thread and repeatedly asking the same questions over and over
There is no set schedule for your fights. They are done at the contestants convenience, no we will not be holding this event ona saturday instead, because it is not taking place during the week or on a weekend. It is up to the contestants to organize their own fight and then contact a moderator.

PRESEASON BEGINS - January 10th at server up. Pre-season ends Jan 24th at server up.
Each tournament week will begin Monday at server up.
Each tournament ends Monday at server down.
Scores will be determined via 3 points for a win, 2 points for a tie, 1 pts for aloss and a bonus point if your opponent is killed within the first minute.
Combatants can decide their own rules before their particular match
if they cannot come to an agreement standard duel rules will apply to their match.
Rules must be explained to moderator before battle.
Battle begins on moderators call
Any character is welcome to join be it mage dexxer hybrid carpenter or fisherman.
You can enter only one character into the league during a season
All combatants must compete at least once each week. (subject to point penalties)
There is no limit to how many times they can compete each week (unless you have fought all opponents in the league that week)
You can only face each opponent once per week
There will be a posted list of all contestants (and how to get in touch with them to organize a duel)
There is a 5k entry fee to register a player
There is a second 5k entry fee for the elimination rounds if you qualify
The gold is held and award at the championship
Any contestant may register at any time during the season
The Top 16 contestants (pts) will make the elimanation round.
Elimination round format will follow later during the season.
Sanctioned duel areas are TBA - duels must take place in any of these areas

If you are not using a 3rd party moderator you can only fight at a location that will support rpv videos

These default rules are ONLY IF the combatants cant agree to their own rules

No Heal, Cure, Dexterity, Strength, Explosion, or Poison Potions
No poison weps
No magic weps
No magic armour
No magic items
No para
No mounts
No magic reflect
No precasting heal - cast heal/hit with weapon/then target yourself with heal. This will be strongly enforced. If you are casting a heal, get a cursor and target yourself, you can at no point deal damage with a mellee attack during that time.
No pets
No leaving the duel area (even to restock)
Run out of equipment and lose - you lose
If a monster interfers tough bananas(modertor should take care of any)
no looting
no hiding
If you lose connection and die you lose
no invis
no summons (ev,pets,deamons,air,water,fire,earth elemntals)

Moderation - There will be a contact list of volunteer moderators who can come collect the fight fee and record the video. A moderator may also be a contestant so long as both parties in the duel agree to the moderator. You cannot moderate your own match. If a moderator is unavailable a fight will not be considered valid until the rules of the duel were posted, a video of the match is posted and both parties have signed off on the legitimacy of the match. It is inadvisable to have a match without a moderator as it can turn into a he said she said 'im not signing off on the video' flame war. But if you both trust each other and a moderator is unavailable it can be done.

EDIT -> due to some people not being able to use/forums makes proving by posting hard, so if both parties agree there is no need for video/mod, but the fight will not count if both parties do not agree in one way or another that it happened and that it was legit.

If there is a point tie between two or more players at the end of the season rankings will be determined from that point via win percentage, most fights, and most different opponents. If there is still a tie there will be sudden death matches to determine who moves into elemination rounds.

Hopefully the format of this ongoing event will allow for all players to take part regardless of their uber leet pvpness, as contestants have a say in who they compete against.

If you are interested in being a contestant or a moderator leave your name and the best way to contact you in this thread.

All participants use #UOSAleague to organize fights if you want its an irc room to idle in

Thank you

No precasting heal (cast heal/hit with weapon/then target yourself with heal)
this is actually a difficult one to moderate imo.. for instance, does equip casting count? with the way this shard works it is actually smart play to avoid wasting your swing by casting GH, equipping during the delay (to avoid wrestle punch), disarming and healing. there are 2 variants of prepping heal nowadays and it could be hard to draw the line. i agree prepping heal should be illegal in most situations, but not all.

ah i hadnt thought about the change to gheal and the hally swings since the last season
all rules can be modified thats what the preseason is for
and opponents can always fight under their own custom rules in each match if they both agree

last year there was boxing only matches, no healing matches etc, magics pots matches etc, money on the matcheslots of options

Any time you cast gheal and get a cursor to target.... and you don't target, your holding a gheal
pretty straight forward i would think....

This is almost always going to be a red pots only fight. You should set the default to no pots at all at the very least, that way both sides have to negotiate for pots or whatever. Otherwise you mine as well have called this "Tank Mage-a-palooza 2011" (other templates need not apply).

The pre-season is to determine necessary changes to rules. Nothing is set until regular season begins

Ok, let's get rid of red pots and call it "Macer-a-palooza 2011" (other templates need not apply) instead then. Then maybe we can try allowing magics and reflect items and call it "Dexer-a-palooza 2011" (other templates need not apply). Either way there's going to be some kind of rule set that favors a certain type of character.

Most people (not saying myself included) favor the tank-mage/redpot/whatever you want to call it rule set. If there was higher interest for a different rule set then I'm sure Blackfoot would be providing that one as default instead.

I'm in. I'm nearly always connected to IRC even if I'm not at home. My best time for matches is 1am-7am server time on weekdays but I can get on earlier on weekends.
