Future of UOSA?

Hi. Apologies if this has been brought up before but please hear me out. I'll make it quick.

So I've been here for about 3 months. Great place, great people, great crowd. Mind you I have no plans of leaving or moving shards this is just simply out of curiosity... I was just wondering what was going to happen here after T2A accuracy is deemed a "success".

My issue is I'm running out of things to do. I know UO is a giant sandbox game, and for me there isn't much variety any more after you have done Tmaps, MiBs, taming -- at this point I'm chilling.

Long story short I was wondering if things were going to be introduced which I think would add a lot of variety and flare: the flower pots and the new housing options from UO:R. I'm not talking full out beetles, samarui and shit, but simpler the things... like flower growing would be great for merchants who are limited to selling just weapons, furniture, and reselling regs, and the different houses would be nice to add a little dimension to the world. But I suspect people will say "this isn't era accurate" or "go to a different server", etc.

Which just leaves me a simple question. After T2A accuracy is deemed completed, is there any plans to breach it a little with some new consumables/content?

No, these things will not be introduced...so if you're waiting around for them might wanna pack your bags now.

Era accuracy will likely NEVER be achieved because once they seem to fix one thing or tweak another to perfection 10 other things go wrong or need bug checking, etc.

It's a constant work in progress, and will always be changing/evolving, but not to the point of a new line of houses or fancy flowers...

What would be cool would be a mirror world where no flagging rules applied

We'll never all agree on whats accurate and whats not. Politics will keep the accuracy board active for generations.

As with real UO, the game wasn't fun or interesting based upon what the newest patch or update was....it was as fun as YOU made it.

Before this downspirals into a flame I'm not looking for Trammel or anything. I am simply just curious what the dev plans were and was hoping vets (like DrFaustus) could chip in on the server outlook. I was always under the assumption they wouldn't be implemented, and nope it does not make me want to leave if they are not!

I think the future of UOSA lies in recruiting new players, and the vets using their wealth and experience to help craft some fun events. Luca and Rose have done a great job with this, and I have some ideas myself but just haven't gotten to it yet.

I will say too, there is so much to do in this game, it's impossible to complete in 3 months. Here's a list of some things I have done or wanted to do:

- wear daemon bone armor as my everyday armor
- solo an ancient wyrm with my dexer
- join Order/Chaos
- make a stealth archer
- herd together some monsters to wreak havoc
- entice nobles/brides/etc. to kill them and take their shoes
- run around with a pack of small hellcats and see what they can take down
- place/buy a castle
- reach Dread Lord status
- GM lockpicking, veterinary, and other annoying skills
- win a pvp tournament
- map every house on the shard
- place a christmas tree in my house
- run an event myself in my castle

And I've spent an inordinate amount of time double-checking some of Derrick's implementations (weapon speed and damage, armor absorbtion, resist rates, casting fizzle rates, z-axis placement issues, Line-of-sight issues, etc.) which has also taught me a ton of cool things about the game.

You have to keep in mind that the devs are not likely going to throw down their plans for the server...as this would obligate them to follow those plans.

Another good part about investing more than 3 months is finding out what the devs do end up doing, and taking part in events while working to find your place in UOSA history.

Although i can understand you're bored sometimes adding content is not the right solution. Imho it basically will lead to a downword spiral instead as people will keep asking for new content over and over. I've seen some other servers and these 'demands' and 'complaints' lead to nothing but more whining and demands etc etc.

Therefore i hope you will find ways to keep playing. Just set yourself some different and unusual goals.

Cheers,
Phlinx

as mikel said, theres so much to do in this game it would probably take you years to do it all. try something new that you haven't done before.

I wasn't flaming you, the boards are made for discussion. The whole point here is to replicate the era, yet I do agree a sister server that kept T2A gameplay while adding in unique features up to and including basements in some housing, new monsters and areas  ( if it were only possible) keeping the free shard but giving the option for a pay to play environment would be cool. Cherry picking isn't a bad thing. Due to the extensive amount of time the players here put in, I am sure they could give you one awesome revision of UO. I think that would take alot of effort and some legal hurdles though.

Never take what I say as a personal attack, even if it sounds like one...its more for my humor then your hurt I assure you.

I think at this point with population numbers how they are, 1 shard is enough.

- wear daemon bone armor as my everyday armor
X solo an ancient wyrm with my dexer
X join Order/Chaos
X make a stealth archer
X herd together some monsters to wreak havoc
X entice nobles/brides/etc. to kill them and take their shoes
X run around with a pack of small hellcats and see what they can take down
X place/buy a castle
X reach Dread Lord status
X GM lockpicking, veterinary, and other annoying skills
X win a pvp tournament
X map every house on the shard
X place a christmas tree in my house
X run an event myself in my castle

So, I basically almost won uo then?
I would like to add...

- perform a "wyrm bomb" with a pack of weak animals
- loot a house
- gate t-map mob to a courtyard killing statloss pk when they recall in
- win a duel with a pitchfork (etc)
- axe every box at a big idoc
- stealth adventure mining
- perform an operation-red-<playername>
- collect 1mil of an item other than gold
- set imp-traps at bucs den bank
- completely surround a house with sheep/cats/dogs
- try to keep a rune-lib of all players homes updated!
- learn to play a thief, a good one
- steal a boat
- purple potion everyone at an event
- play a non 7x, but completed character..
- commit a heinous scam
- make a whole guild quit, twice.

I call BS on the hellcats, the AW, the castle event, and the imps. I want some screenshots. Especially the imps... I was going to do that myself, but if it's been done before it's not as special to me.

It's a bummer that half the things on your list can't be done anymore... specifically gating the monsters and the purple potions. Chaining purple potions, in particular, I really miss here, as it is the one thing that a single player can use to ensure that someone else can die at a moment's notice, if they're not VERY careful.

And yes, you don't win UO unless you rock daemon bone... NAY, phoenix armor... as your everyday digs.

The end.
