Let's talk Foot Stools

Post by RoadKill »

Who actually remembers them working on OSI the way they work here? I remember when you had a foot stool, if you locked it down, it functioned just like a regular stool except you couldn't sit on it (your guy would just stand on it but it wouldn't raise your Z-axis).

I use to do a lot of house breakins using Z-axis bugs on OSI, and I can say we never used a foot stool in my entire time doing them

Did we ever get documented proof that these are meant to work as staircases if utilized properly in houses? Anyone have some old screenshots of someone who has created an walkable bridge/staircase using just foot stools?

Footstool's as they are on UOSA are Era Accurate.

To this day on OSI you can still stack foot stool's, lock them down, and walk on them. You can build ramps over object's as well.

The difference on OSI is that you do not rubber band off of unlocked footstools, and there is no need to lock them down to get a Z-axis bump off of them.

It's just another one of those thing's you didn't know about as a less experienced gamer back in the day.

Someone show me a screenshot of a 1999 footstool bridge.

Or someone tell me they had one in 1999.

Do we have any proof whatsoever that this was possible? No one here has ever claimed to have had one, and I for one never saw one.

Tower to Tower bridges were probably not possible as I cant find any way on OSI to "drop" a stool on the edge of a tower without using Razor.

Better off finding a patch note that deals specifically with footstool's. But you probably wont as I doubt there were any causes for concern (exploitable bugs) regarding footstool's or any reasons to change them.

Why would footstool z-axis have been specifically added during a time of customizable housing?

Maybe it was added in UOR? Probably not. I don't see any reason OSI would just up and decide to change the functionality of footstool's after the t2a era.

"Foot Stool"... you don't sit on it... its for your feet :P

Towers could not be placed close enough to do that.

"To this day you can still.." is not a good defense for any position. I don't remember stools, or any item for that matter allowing one to change their z axis. Especially after the early-uo issues with teleporting on tables, and worldforge to build bridges into peoples houses...

I personally don't remember seeing foot stools used on OSI the way they're used here, but I've always just assumed it was one of those things that wasn't as widely known then as it is now.

I think it's actually, "It's possible in 2010 so it was possible in 1999". Good times either way though.

Kilts caused Z+ issues, worked back in dec 1998, and a few months later rib cages.
