OSI online count back in the era

Post by rouss »

Digging through GM manual posted on the forums, I've found this:

Just decided to post this in case someone is interested. OSI never exposed those numbers to public afaik.

PS. Mind that this screenshot is taken at 2pm, not quite the prime time. (You may multiply these numbers by 20-30% to get night stats)

Really, just 20-30%? I always thought it was more like 3500 to 5000 for the big shards at peak. I can't imagine 2pm was that close to peak, given macroing and idling would disconnect and/or jail you.

Interesting though... at 2pm we might have say 200 uniques. So the real shards had 7x as much as us. Very interesting.

I don't know what the max capacity was(?) but do remember sometimes getting a message that the shard was full when trying to log into Europa.

It was always just what I needed after a crash or disconnect in some dodgy area :(

the number people always quoted was 2500 max capacity

ridiculously large difference to free shards since the heavy majority of people weren't multi clienting, and most weren't macroing!

yeah, and 100x the people who are actually playing the game... some of the old dungeon shots with 10+ people crammed into one screen bring a tear to my eye. it was very rare to be alone on any part of the map in my napa days.
<green> grats pink and co. .... the 3 of you f---ing scrubs together can blow up a bard. IMPRESSIVE

The max capacity based on my understanding was 15,000 and this happened on the old Abyss shard a lot.
