training magery in town... eb's do 1 hp damage?

Why is this? my eval is 90...
I've never known why this is the case (anyone?) but it is the way it's meant to be

There's no magery damage when casting in town. (Well, 1hp per spell).

interesting... i dont really remember that being the case in t2a but I may remember incorrectly. thanks.

because spells don't do damage, you wont be able to gain resist in towns. good thing to keep in mind if you want resist to raise with magery.

Not true at the moment marm.. but it should be that way until the old bug that existed before it was fixed in early '99 is corrected here... 
No damage in town was introduced very early on in Ultima Online and presisted all the way up until it was removed for factions in late UOR. This is a well documented feature and exists in the original OSI decompiled code as well.
The screenshot involving the exploit discussed in the upper top portion of my post here involving dozens of mad mages is a piece of evidence that is very well known and the url for the pic is still lurking around here somewhere on the forums.
