Boat Blockades!
I have brought this topic up before and it was pushed aside by the Staff.
viewtopic.php?f=8&t=12754&start=60
http://forum.uosecondage.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=12805
even though the poll shows that the Players wanted Boat Blockades removed.
as this topic died I learned to Live with the Decision and Play the Game Again!
I even a couple of Blockades of my own!.
but today i have been told to remove my blocked Near Cove or my Boats may get Deleted!
all fine and Dandy if that's the New Rule to be put into place!
But if your gonna make a rule about 1 blockade!, It needs to apply to ALL Boats that Are Blocking Players!

Imo, it's pretty lame (but creative) to basically "own" your own mountain side. Not to mention it takes away a lot of the risk vs. reward since you're nearly invulnerable to being pk'd and it could possibly lead to more afk resource gathering which is illegal.
I think it shouldn't be allowed myself, but honestly couldn't care less. I can always go elsewhere.

In era people were banned for saying the N-WORD

. Should we do that here aswell? Sure, I don't mind. But we'll lose players all the time.
Are we supposed to have era-accurate GM's here aswell?

One minute you want era accuracy. Find out you're wrong then you don't want the era accuracy?

But no, I think what has been done since day 1 of having the shard, as far as mechanics go, era accurate while leaving general policies up to Derrick has been the best way to go.
Again, I don't really care that much. I'm so sick of boat mining it's not even funny anymore. I just don't think someone should be able to completely control an entire mountain side and keep all to themselves. /shrug

Lets try and keep this on Topic Please!
The Topic is: should Players be able to Block Certain Area's of the World using Boats!
should some area's be allowed over others?
should a Player be able to block off the boat access to a mountain side? (mining Spots)
should a Player be able to block off the boat access to a town?
should a Player be able to block Any other Player from having Equal Access to ANY Area in the Game?
if not ... what should be done to the Boats that are used to block off these Area's?
should they be moved?
or should they just be Deleted?
Lets try and come up with something Era Accurate and Fair! shall we!

Uo is about freedom to do what you want in most cases. The only time a GM ever did anything to change actual gameplay was when there was a threat to subscriptions going down drastically.
If you think about it though, derrick said it's illegal to place a thousand animals on brit bridge to block access. So this would be teh same type of thing.

It doesn't directly impact me in any way, but I think the blockades should go. Its a good idea to safely mine an area, but its hardly fair to other players.
First Come, First Served Is One Thing.
First Come, Only One Served...Indefinitely...Is Quite Another.
I say let everyone have free access to the mining spots, but as I said above...it won't impact me in any way, so it'd hardly upset me either way.
DEFINITELY think that towns should not be blocked off unless its part of some kind of event, though.

Boats being removed on OSI was a policy decision which has been stated many times before this server does not try to replicate.
Mechanics allow for the entire ocean to be filled with boats owned by one person.
The GM that told you to remove the boats should be excommunicated and banished from all the world.

Derrick tells "Dastardly Duck": You may not cordon off large sections of the shard for an indefinate period of time. In the future, boats may be deleted if this is intrepreted to be mere griefing. If your boats have a purpose in that location, please let us know.
Derrick tells "Dastardly Duck": There may be other ways, but you are baricating a town. This in along the same lines as surronding britain with cats. If you have further questions about this policy please contact me directly.
Also I'm not sure why you think this only applies to you DW. Regardless, we've finally decided on a set policy for 'boat blockades' and the above is the gist of it. We're currently fine-tuning the details and a post about the new policy will be up shortly.
