Wow! I just found you guys!

Well this is all pretty exciting! I played UO a for few years and quit around 1999 or 2000. Came back briefly in 2004 and found my toons had been deleted, my friends gone, and the weapons had gotten complicated (Me: "no, I'm telling you this silver katana of vanquishing is awesome! them: "no, trust me, it's junk").

So I started back a few weeks ago trying to learn all the new stuff but finding you T2A guys has me stoked to start playing on this server! Well not the mindless hours of lockpicking or getting pk'd and whatnot but hell yea!

I'm still reading up but basically had a few questions.

1. Is the economy like it was "back in the day"? i.e. hardly anyone had 1 million gold and prices were reasonable?

2. Is this server still subect to exploits (either gold duping or fighting cheats)?

3. Can you set your skills to go up, down, or locked? That was a headache I remember.

I'm sure I have more but I'm pretty excited about this! Is West Brit bank packed like it used to be? And Vesper? When I first logged onto Catskills a few weeks ago, I thought something was wrong..noone at the Vesper bank...walked to Brit Bank didn't see a soul and noone was there. I was expecting to see a message pop up that said "Congratulations! You are the final subscriber!".

Welcome to the shard.

1: Yes people have millions of gold here, but the economy itself isnt that inflated.
Prices are very reasonable.. you can buy a high end vanq for 50k
force and power weapons can be aquired for only a few K gold
Houses even are very reasonable here... Can buy a Large Brick most days for Deed price plus +50k (on average)

2: No exploits here... If you get caught using one, its not good new for you
Most people that find an exploit tell the admin immediately.

3: Skills can be locked, up or down...

Welcome to UOSA Dorian!!!

I'd differ from Kelektra and say not everybody has millions, but it is not too hard to make them if that is the path you wish to choose.

Yeah, WBB is pretty hopping, and Vesper is quieter, but there's still people around.

Be sure to check out NEW, it's a great way to get started.

Welcome. If you need any help with anything, feel free to PM me. The IRC can also be good for getting a quick answer to any questions.

Also checkout the wiki: http://wiki.uosecondage.com/

There are certainly people here with millions of gold but prices on most items are very reasonable and inflation hasn't gone crazy.

If I may ask, where did you hear about this server?

There are plenty of people with millions, but really each new player is in a better position to get a million gp of their own than anyone before them. What I mean is, there is so much information in the forums now on how to do things quickly and effectively, that you'll be able to get your million gp much faster than some of the older players would.

Unless you're big into server rares, or certain colors of sandals that are super leet and rare and worth millions even though similar ones a slight shade different are not, I find that pretty much any other play style or interest can be ramped up to pretty quickly. Use the forum search and you can find some detailed help on just about any skill or playstyle.

Thanks for the responses. I'm not really concerned about making UO money...I'm more in it for the fun. I just remember how the economy went nuts seemingly overnight and really screwed up a nice thing.

me: nice sword, how much?
seller: 1.2 million
me: hmm...well, I have 437 on me....but I'm about to go kill some harpies so that'll be at least another 100...would you take 530? lol

Feldeath - I found this site by chance...I was googling something about how to tell the age of my uo account and clicked on a link to secondage.com and was like "what is this?!?!!"

Awesome! Well I am glad you found us! You came to the right spot if you're looking to have a blast and be part of a great community. UOSA truly is the only sandbox game that exsists today, in my opinion. Welcome to "the only game ever made"!

Thanks, I'm looking forward to trying it out! Of course, gone are the single, girl-friendless days where I woke up, sat down at the PC in my underwear and the next thing I knew it was dark outside! These days I have a wife who frowns upon me playing and a 2-year-old that doesn't care if I'm running from a pk or not.

LOL, that's true! As many of us know, we have much more to do in life now then 10 years back. I too remember the underwear thing...man I thought my family was the only wierd ones...I still get crud for the sitting around in underwear all day as a high school kid myself. I am actually on my lunch break as we speak so unfortunately I cannot play for another several hours. That's monday for you though..gotta file all the paperwork in the office and train the new crew. I was enjoying the 3 days off, work a day, 2 days off, work 2 days, ect.. I always end up working more when we lose the returning to school kids but that's fine. Even the boss needs to work from time to time right?

After reading about how rampant PK’ing is, I thought I’d venture out to see how fast it took me to get nailed. I ran (part of the way...only 10 dex so most of it was walking) to the Vesper cemetery (site of my first PK experience which was mortifying back in the day lol). Didn’t see anyone, so went to T2A. Holy shat…I haven’t actually had to know where I was going on foot in a very long time. Took me about 7 seconds to get completely turned around and lost. Ended up finding the good ol’ orc fort and then, after getting nearly raped by Vartog, tried for about 20 minutes to find the tunnel BACK to the Vesper cemetery…ended up just using “Help” to teleport to Delucia. Looked around for another 10 minutes for the place to say “recsu recdu” (which I somehow remembered) only to then think “maybe that was just in Papua?”. Anyway, found the passage to Trinsic and another 15 minutes wandering around before I finally googled a map to figure out how to get to town.

And I want to apologize for all the times I told the noobs at the bank to stop begging for money…I’m going to be one of them as being broke sucks balls. If you see me, please have some compassion.

Um, wow ...

My "UOSA initiation" did not go down like you describe ...

I started with a "patient & reliable" income-generator to underwrite my character generation and then ... I just started playing; the biggest obstacle I ever encountered was finding reliable & reasonably-priced vendors for equipment.

If you are still struggling, PM me: I can tell you which vendors to deal with, and which to ignore; I have a scribe who can help you fill your spellbook, a smith to help repair your armor, mages who can Mark runes, a T-Hunter who could partner with you for low-level maps, a bard who can help you thin out a heavy spawn ...

You might even consider joining my guild ...
