Guide: Stealth

Post by Morbent Fel »

Get 500gp and go to skara brae cross the ferry at the south east part of the main area. Follow the road til it forks north, continue into the large building, and the Ranger Guildmaster inside will train stealth. Say *name of guildmaster* train Stealth.

Next you'll want to find a nice spot where you won't be disturbed.

This razor macro here will GM you, just put armor on when you hit around 80.

Use skill hiding
If conditional system message: "well"
Pause 11000
Use skill stealth
If conditional system message: "fail"
Pause 11000

10 skill = 1 step
20 skill = 2 steps
etc

Also having a lot of armor on will make you fail more, and at a point not let you stealth at all. So go with light armor.

This macro does not work as intended. All it does is alternate between hide and stealth with no pattern.

The same thing could be done with
Hide
Wait 11
Stealth
wait 11
repeat

Edit: A correct macro is
Use Skill Stealth
Wait .2 (put in 200)
If System Message = "You must hide first"
Wait 10.5-11 sec
Use Skill Hiding
else
If System Message = "You fail"
wait 10.5-11sec
use skill hiding
wait 10.5-11sec
else
Wait 10.5-11 sec
end if
End If
Repeat

Here is an even shorter version, which I used as an example in the Razor Guide thread.

Use skill Stealth
Pause 5 secs
If SysMessage "begin" (from "you begin to move quietly")
Pause 5 secs
Else
Pause 5 secs
Use skill hiding
Pause 10 secs

Anyone know what to wear and when or does that not matter on this shard?

Once you get to ~80 you will cease to gain if you are not wearing any armor. And the max you can stealth in is 16, if I am not mistaken. When I get to 80, I usually put on 16AR and it is not too long to reach GM. As for adding little by little, I am not sure. Experiment with it.

Edit: I just tested this out on my character that is gaining stealth ATM. I put 16 armor on at 75.5 stealth and he is not "too encumbered" to move at all, and stealth seems to be raising fairly quickly. I am not sure when would be a good time to start adding armor, but 16 at 75 is working fine for me.

I think i threw armor on around the low-id 70's.. im currently wearing full studded with a leather helm. (i think that is 17 or 18 ar) so the max ar may be slightly higher than 16?

I was at 85 when i whoke up this morning... ill see where I am when i get home.

This macro will work good if you start the script while already hidden and change it to:
Use skill stealth
Pause 10.5 sec
If sysmessage "begin"
Else
Use skill hiding
Pause 10.5 sec

Also, i have 22 AR at 65 skill. seems to be working good. I started from zero stealth skill and added armor little by litte. Not sure what the limit is but at very low skills you could wear 16 AR and not get any message "too encumbered", you'd just fail alot more and have to hide again. For those who don't know, you can train this in your house if your not worried about gaining hide skill.

The Ranger guild master in Skara Brae does not train stealth. Try again

Do you have at least 80 hiding? There is a minimum hiding you need (either 60 or 80) before you can use/learn stealth.

So you don't have to move at all to gain in stealth? You just have to begin to move quietly basically? I know that on other servers you gained skill if you at least moved while in stealth mode.

The only skill check is when you initially stealth. You have no chance of becoming unstealthed while moving < max steps for your skill level so you do not gain skill when moving. Only on skill use.

Just to confirm, The Hiding Skill has to be at 80! as i'm at 73 and cannot attempt to stealth yet.

Yep, 80.0 hiding is the lowest you can have before attempting to stealth
