Provoking BUG

Post by SirEricKain »

Every time I successfully provoke a mob they keep meleeing/casting on me unless I run out like 5-6 tiles, definitely can't recall this happening to me in any era, and it is making even lvl 4 tmaps almost impossible without heavy use of invisibility items.

I think this makes sense. They targeted you first and the other thing is just a side attack. Just run away 5-6 tiles.

Does it make sense? sure, is it accurate to this era, I am more then certain it is not... I already mentioned running 5-6 tiles away corrects the action but it should not be needed, level 5 tmaps will be more of a pain then they already are, survival game will be just dumb as you don't get 5-6 tiles.

The mob you are provoking should instantly switch it's target, and begin casting on it's new target. However, the mob you are provoking ONTO should continue to cast on you until you give it good reason to switch - which is done by leaving it's attack range. I think it's the other mob casting on you, not the provoked one.

I agree.

Provocation is a one way attack. If monster A and monster B are attacking you, and you provoke monster A to attack monster B, monster B should still be attacking you until it has a reason to switch targets over to monster A (who is attacking it).

On UOSA it's a union-like attack, where you command 2 monsters to drop everything and attack eachother.

Seems like it was a bit of both. (This does sound familiar).

Here are some provoking tips from a Master Bard on 3 different shards.
1)Do not provoke monsters ONTO a magic caster. Always do it the
other way around. Magic users do not cast spells until they are
either struck in combat (autodefend) or are attacked (doubled left
click, or attacked by a monster\animal. Once they are attacked
they then cast at least 1 spell on their original target then move to
the new foe.

2)Do not hit or attack any monster or animal you wish to provoke.
They have a habbit of not caring about the new target and only
remember the first person to hit them or target them.
