Trade taking place

I have offered a patio deed for a small house owned by Mens Rea, this offer has been accepted.
As there are currently no other brokers available I will be brokering the deal as the buyer. House Trade to take place, and payment to then follow once completed.
This has been posted to reassure Mens Rea, that I am indeed the broker Tabius, and protecting him from being scammed.

Spam?
Not at all.
Normal transaction:
Party 1 to broker to Party 2
This transaction:
Party 1 to broker [party 2]
I was given a guarantee on his public recognition as a broker that he could perform both the task of party 2 and the broker.
This post was an assurance that his public goodwill was at risk should he not follow through.

#secondagetrade is the more appropriate venue for this, IMO.

Only an idiot would say do it in secondagetrade.
1. it could be anyone.
2. this is what the seller wanted me to do to give him assurance it was me.
3. im still in shock you would say take it to secondage trade..... yeah thats secure...

All he has to do is ask IRC Tabius to PM him from his forum account. (I know, rocket scientist at work here)
If a new precedent is set that has people announcing trades via the forum, then lets set up a subforum for that. Threads like these will do nothing but clutter up the classifieds.

posting their trade in the forums ensures reprecussions if it ended up being a scam - forum account blocked
you cannot use the forums or the main irc channel to perpetrate scams in game
why they did this makes perfect sense.

If a seller wants it to be made public like this, it is his perogative to do so.
If you dont like it, perhaps you can ask derrick to make a forum section for these, as its not the first time ive seen this.

Let me break it down for you
- You are Person A.
- Your bike is negligently run over by a Person B driving a car.
- Person B is a lawyer.
- You ask Person B to represent you as your lawyer.
- Person B can perform all of his tasks as a lawyer, but can he ignore his own personal prejudices and do the job effectively?
- The above is the essence of a conflict of interest.
- A conflict of interest also arises where a broker is also a party to the transaction.
- Brokers rely on public confidence to carry out their trading business.
- A public forum post is traceable and can be read before, during and after the trade.
- If the trade went badly it would be reviewable public knowledge.
- If reviewable public knowledge paints an untrustworthy picture of the broker then the broker cannot conduct his business.
- The risk of ruining his own business was my assurance that he would credibly carry out his duties as a broker.

Do you see my point about the thread being clutter? Even when I'm not actively buying or selling property, I like to check this forum to see if anything catches my eye. Shouldn't this be in it's own forum, or even just over private message? PMs can be accessed by admins, so that is easy to enforce as part of the forum scamming rule.

You never made any of those points until you were convinced that you were wrong.
It took a lot of convincing, or "clutter" as you call it, to convince you that you were wrong.
You caused the clutter.
