taking away something players enjoyed?
sup everyone
I know there is a lot of people out there who have been dissing the events and giving them a bad reputation instead is just playing the shard for what it is.
I also know that there are a lot of players who don't complain much and just want to enjoy a few events that have been around prior to us joining the shard.
If derrick and the gm's read this I would like you guys to consider restoring the amount of events with either silver or trophys. based on the fact that there is no point to take a way or reduce something which made people happy and encouraged players to play. we all came here because this is a t2a free shard and wanted to have fun, just because a few players are active in giving events a bad reputation doesn't justify taking away a small but cool feature of the shard.
The people who dont enjoy or wish to participate try to remain neutral on the subject and stop trying to trash talk a system which made it possible for all players to earn some rewards and play a fun game. now its pretty freaking hard for any players to earn/buy access to rewards as we dont get rewards on uosa for the amount of time we had accounts.
Cheers everyone!

I miss late night ctf and dds it encouraged some people to stick around later then they would. Plus It is hard to reproduce that in a player run event.

Re: taking away something players enjoyed?
There have been more people out during the evening when I play.
I know this is the mandatory thread where the handful of you that enjoy blessed masks come in to say how displeased you are, but I felt I would share my account. There has been alot more to do, as far as interacting with other players. I'm not talking about graveyard PvP either. I have seen people farming, holding their own events, and just meeting up to play the game, and it's nice to see for a change. There is now a player ran IRC channel where people report murderers and the citizens rally against them, THAT feels like the UO I remember.
The little social session over near wrong the other night with K^A, Mark, Orcs, and a bunch of others was simply fantastic. I found it refreshing, compared to the usual 1 hour event, 15 minutes of Bucs Den Pvp, followed by 20% of the people noto killing at the GraveYard, and the remaining 80% going back to macroing until the next event.

Matron hit it dead on.
A big part of what made the era great was that (generally) players were left to create their own content.
As we see more players go out across the map to gather gold, more pks come out after targets, more pks come out, the anti's step up, etc. Activity has a cumulative affect, which is what made the sandbox so great....not being catered to.
No matter your playstyle, be it pvmer, pk, anti, rper, thief, whatever....you go out and generate activity of your own, it'll get things going all around.

I was thinking of the DD and CTF events
we cant re create those and it does not hurt to run those to switch things up from time to time.
I want to remind people that the GM's did see value in these events when they started running them. so try to think before putting down events or attempting to claim stuff.
and ROFL and benny can u plz stfu kid!!! pks and farmers have always been here man. just because you and matron happen to observe more people out there has nothing to do with a 30 minute DD or CTF. more people have been joining the shard and the players who play a CTF or DD from time to time also play the shard actively.

matron give me a break there is ZERO connection between your social gatherings, player run irc channel and what not to CTFs and DDs. seems like u have been spending ur time on irc/fourms instead of in game because I'm LOL at your observations of "people farming, holding their own events and just meeting up to play to game" that's what players have always been doing and shit has not changed.MatronDeWinter wrote: I have seen people farming, holding their own events, and just meeting up to play the game, and it's nice to see for a change. Re: taking away something players enjoyed?
i'm all for taking events away. Only those that can not be reproduced without gm-created things like CTF pads, should stay and be hosted like once a week. Seriously, you can host your own 1v1 tourneys, why the hell not? Just imagine, "mYm 1v1 tourney" or "cr3w 2v2 weekly".

Re: taking away something players enjoyed?
we would never hold our own tourneys due to grief-tactics and the amount of idiotic people who attend when there are no restrictions in place.
1 player can ruin the entire event easily.
whether or not events are removed/increased wont affect my play-time, just where i choose to spend that time at ;/

Re: taking away something players enjoyed?
i can't afford to host tourneys I used to use silver as a prize because you need at least 150k/5 silver prize money to get more than 5 people turn up

Re: taking away something players enjoyed?
well your arguments that you/your guild cant afford to host the tourney are just insignificant. if you can't you don't. as for idiots out there - you gotta take precautions then. don't be trammel.

Re: taking away something players enjoyed?
I think rewards such as clothing bless deed, neon hair and a few other era accurate rewards need to be able to be brought with gold at the alchemist or something.
Why limit it to silver. I think we'll see much more dungeon action and overall interaction if we let gold be able to buy rewards. Why not?
It's a gold sink that way and it's totally accurate to farm gold while silver is not.

Re: taking away something players enjoyed?
I've never attended an event, so my opinion isn't worth much, but maybe one day a week should follow the old schedule? (An event day, so to speak, where the schedule is as full as it was before the changes, or maybe even more full.)
Personally I'm in favor of minimizing the number of no-risk events, but I understand the need for some kind of protection against players more interested in ruining the event than participating in it. But that kind of activity, unfortunately, is era-accurate.
(I could be wrong about the no-risk part, but my understanding is that the events take place in a controlled environment.)
