CTF Rule Adjustment

Briefly stated.
- Add friendly fire to AoE spells (EQ / Pots / MS)
- Remove Free Use ( People just spam refresh pots all day, no strategy req.)
- Add more user-friendly spells ( teleport, field spells, etc)
Poll will run for 10 days.
As it stands now, its incredibly easy to win a CTF, just by guarding your teams base when holding an enemy flag. You can spam earthquake, and because there's no friendly fire, 95% of the time your team will win the defense.
Also, there is disappointingly no strategy involved what-so-ever in CTF. With the ability to continuously spam refresh pots, people can never be "wall-blocked". The restriction on most field spells (especially para-field) is also a big hinder to this strategy. I feel that the removal of free-use will bring strategy and resource management to the CTF events.
Constructive feedback plz.

How should we work out the non-returning flags? It gets rather dull when someone has the same flag the entire 20/30 minutes, etc.
Maybe we could adjust it to where the flag has to be "returned" to its base after <said time> has elapsed in order for the team holding it to capture it, that way you can't just turtle the flag for 30 minutes each game..

I'm torn on the friendly fire. I think it would be better to disable area spells like EQ in CTF all together rather than adding a friendly fire. It's hard enough to click running targets as it is.
I'm all for removing free use so long as the items used in CTF are replaced at the end of the game. Meaning I walk into CTF with 10 bandies, use all 10 during the game so I have effectively "run out", and those 10 bandies are given back at the end of the game when I am back in the sign up area.
I think teleport would be a bad spell to add though. Too many ways to abuse it.

I suggested adding teleport to counter taking away unlimited refresh pots. That way you can form a player-wall to block runners, but still have the ability to counter such tactics without it being unbalanced.
Thoughts?
Possibly enable infinite hunger like in tournaments perhaps?

I voted yes on the poll, but I think there should be free reg use to allow noobs to play but no free potion use cuz thats a crutch. Explosion potions arent free use, why all the other ones?

It's called resource management. If you enter the CTF and cast 255 mini-heals then obviously you will run out of regs..
keyword = management..
How about removing free-use and adding the "bank opening" on each "resurrection spawn" That way you can still re-up on supplies if you don't know what management means..
Thoughts?

Keep free use.
Add Poison/Para/Fire Fields.
Friendly fire seems counter-productive. I would personally kill people on my team that I don't like if it was implemented.

What about noobs who dont have a ton of regs?
New question, should people with half built characters or limited resources be excluded?

People who are new could opt- to play a dexxer in such events, bandages are extremely easy to acquire, and it really doesn't take 1000/ea reg to participate in these events. People are use to spamming any/all spells without any thought because they know it doesn't consume resources.
We had this same discussion about 1v1 tournaments, and free-use was disabled, and the tournaments are better than ever. Resource management is a huge factor in the 1v1's now, and you are still able to re-up your stock at the beginning of each round. We could classify a "round" in CTF in terms of deaths, you can bank on a re-spawn, if necessary.

You should add this to the original bullets list.

Tournaments are worse then ever. There's no resource management in them, you just stock 200 of each reg and a hally. It just makes it annoying.

I dislike CTF and other automated events but I agree with Sandro's proposed changes.
If we can't have 100% friendly fire, then I think we should at least have EQ/field spells hurt everyone. You can't abuse it, cause there's no way someone will die from field spells and EQ hits everyone on the screen so you and 14 other people are gonna be spamming gheal anyway.
Also, I think teleport won't be abused....I think red pot spamming is worse. With teleport it takes time to cast and aim as well as being able to be interrupted with harm/debuffs. Unlimited red pots makes it way easier cause you can run through 10 people instantly with little risk of dying and giving points to the other team.
