Hey, welcome to the shard!

Stats are fairly simple. Herding raises str really quickly, snooping does the same for dex, int is a bit harder. You can gain it passively as your raising magery/eval/med, also camping and cooking are good skills to raise it if you want it beforehand.

Lumberjacking doesn't have any bearing on axe damage here, T2A was before all that.

for a PvM mage u should prolly get provo/music. You can kill most things with an Energy Vortex, but having provo capabilities makes your $ per hour potential double or triple.

I suggest your pvm mage be a bard. It is the fastest farming template to raise here since provoke is not difficulty based.

100/100/25
Music
Provocation
Mage
Med
Resist
Eval
Wrestle

Wrestle/Resist will save you from PKs and from failing to incite enough anger if you get too close to a dragon or similar.
Eval is nice on a bard because you will inevitably be left with 1 monster with some life left, and 6% left on a dragon can either be 2 FS or 3 ebolts without eval, or half that with eval. Med is just a given.

O, and for stats; herding will get your str to 100 pretty easily, but for int go with camping. I read about it on the forums, didn't believe it, tried it and now I love it. I set whole forests on fire walking tree to tree, cutting and burning kindling for int on every new mage. It is just about the fastest way to gain int, mostly because there is no 10s wait like there would be for a skill and kindling is easy to come by.

Everyone says bards are awesome. What do you fight with? Dragons at destard? I got killed at ancient wyrms once, ran around destard. Found about 7 ghosts just chillin there waitin for people to come in. Its nuts.

Fire Temple is decent barding territory if you're quick, lich lords, elder gazer, etc etc. Destard is nice, but use the back room or deep into the second level. Ultimately, being a bard is about getting in and getting out fast with your gold. I also suggest the evil mages in shame because there is a poison ele spawn there. The best part about evil mages is that its a multi-tiered house, which means you have plenty of time to spot incoming PKs. For the PKs who have runes inside the complex (unlikely) there is plenty of furniture and other obstacles in the compound to give you time to smash that recall button.

I suggest the following emergency recall macro::

/cast recall
pause 500
Wait for Target (timeout=2)
/targetbytype rune

....and carry just one rune on you at all times (to a safe place).

On my bard I recall in, drag all the life bars, provoke everything I can then invis myself. At the first sign of a red name I mash my emergency recall macro, but until I see a red I constantly update my provoke targets to keep life levels falling evenly. I bank at about 9-10k gold, or 5k with a large gem count.

Wow that is a great mini-guide. I might give barding a chance then. And also the recall macro. I never made one with razor. Question about it though if I leave it target by type and have 2-4 runes on me it will still work out okay(but i have a chance of going to any of those spots)

I highly reccomend tmaps for new people to make fast easy safe money off of. You can buy lvl 1's for 500 gold and double your money as lvl 1s drop 1k gold plus regs/scrolls/gems/magics. So make a lvl 1 tmap machine that has a melee skill, parry and the ability to cast magic unlock/telekenisis and regen mana for those 2 spells and recalls quickly. So like a medi-dexxer maybe.

Equip with a good silver wpn and you could probably really tear through some tmaps quickly.

So like fence/parry/tact/anat/heal/50 mage/50med/resist? You can recall to chest, dig it up and tank the spawn, unlock and blow trap, then tank the respawn as you loot.

For lvl 1's i think a provoker is a complete waste of time.

Correct; you will randomly go to any rune location in your pack. Personally, I keep one rune on my to a certain city at any time, and keep a runebook of farming locations in my bank.

Careful with that... I had a guy bring his thief in (stealthing) and stole my rune while I was provoking stuff. Next thing I know a PK shows up and my recall macro was ready.... oh crap, no rune... :P

Exactly why I want more than one rune.

I have a gatebot to rescue any of my farmers at any given moment, but it couldn't hurt to have multiple runes going to different banks/safe spots.
