I believe that they were introduced very late in era, many of the additions in this late T2A period are not generally associated with the T2A most remember, so we don't have them. They were actually in for a little while in the beginning, so there are some about, but they are not currently spawning.

Gargoyle pick axes are from Lord Blackthorns Revenge; the expansion before Age of Shadows. Same time glass blowing and granite were introduced.

I hated granite, always filled my packs up when I just wanted ore. I think they changed it later where you could choose to harvest both/one or the other, but I HATED that stuff; and everyone wanted to buy tables

Not correct. I was never around during Lord Black's revenge and I remember gargoyle pickaxes. I also remember those damned frost staves that everyone camped the north for. Uhg, stupid trammel

YEah, I never played Blackthorn's Revenge either so I can be certain gargoyle pickaxes pre-date that. Tehy came out WITH the stone gargoyles whenever those were introduced. Stone harpies came out with that patch as well, I think a few other monsers did as well...

maybe it just a patch in between uo:r and lbr.

I could have sworn garg pick axes at least came after uo went 3d with third dawn. Memory often proves itself wrong somehow though. I'm curious what patch they went in on. For some reason I just don't picture granite furniture until later in the timeline.

QTIP, you are wrong and right. When Gargoyle Pickaxes first came out, all they did was let you mine an ore one level over your current level. So you could mine a green vein but produce blue ore. They also had a chance of spawning an ore elemental each time you used it, and the last thing you wanted to deal with was a Valorite Elemental. You couldn't mine granite with them in this time period. They were just useful for gathering high-value ores.
