Purple Potion Exploit.

Post by Miles »

Im sure you've encountered this before, but is there a possible fix for bitch-ass, sub-par players to use purple potions on a macro to fire them at me while running half a screen ahead of them?

I've seen this problem before used with tards and UO Extreme years ago, but i didnt think it would come to this. I've been attacked this way 5 times now in the last 2 days.

If crutch PKs like Benjy need to resort to this exploit to take down better players i can understand, but will it ever be fixed? if not i'll be the first to create a character to utilize this exploit. Thanks.

I agree, the purple pot machine guns are pretty lame. However, some people think you NEED them to be a effective pk which just shows how bad they are at pking.

It is not exploit, purple pots are very useful in pvp. Especially if you are good enough to handle them (:

Using a script or a timer to lob them from half/full screen away at your target while having precast or a weapon equipped isn't skill.

Good enough to handle them? you mean having above 60 IQ to know not to stand next to the target? Obviously if someone was fighting a dexer they wouldnt throw them, but then they probably wouldnt attack said dexer, since anyone using the tactic of Purple Potion Slinging obviously requires a crutch or a handicap in order to play the game.

where are you fighting?

If you're fighting in anywhere other than tournament pit and if they're really using macros, just go around the corner of a small house. If it's a timed macro they'll blow themselves up. And with lag, even 0.25 seconds can cause problems. Something tells me they're just using "use purple pot" + last target hot keys. It takes timing and coordination. Can't see why it's any different than pressing a Corp Por hot key or a dexxer staying 1 tile to keep swinging. Why is only a tank mage's spells and hally = skill? And everything else is cheap? By the way, anyone can incorporate explode pots to their pvp tactic, so why not make use of them?

'Everything Else' isnt cheap. but using a script to launch Purples at a machine gun pace is just retarded. You are stating that exploiting the data stream and making use of this function is skillful?

Keep it in mind, everyone that has to use a purple potion on a timer in a fight requires a crutch. They are as handicapped as Corky from 'Life Goes On'

And it doesnt take 'Timing and Co-ordination'. If you double click any purple potion it has a set time before it goes off. a script/exploit makes easy use of this and waits for the last possible moment then launches it. The distance it has to travel means NOTHING. as long as the timer is set accordingly. So heres a case in point:

I attack you while you are farming, i precast out of screen, arm halberd then launch explosion potions at you at a geometric rate. You obviously run but even being 1/2 to a FULL SCREEN away from me you are still being pelted by explosions that in real physics have NO EARTHLY BUSINESS even being CLOSE to your proximity at the time of the explosion. You die after 6 or so hit you while you are unable to heal.

Now tell me oh learned one... Did i just own you with skill? or a common exploit.

(heres a hint, if you dont pick the latter you are in obvious need of help.)

Just run around a corner if they're using a script. Timed explosion pot macros are so easily fumbled it's laughable. Why are you so sure that those who killed you used *timed/scripted* explosion pot macros? Really, the best way is to do it is manually with hot keys if you don't want to blow yourself up when target goes around corners or out of range <-- Which is VERY easily done. I laugh and watch the pk blow themselves up if I find out they use scripted pot macros. You're also telling me the basics of a explosion pot? Honey, I know how they work. "travel time means nothing" Did anyone say it meant something? Everyone knows this already.

And it's only 10-20 dmg per 3 seconds. In 3 seconds I'd be gone if a pk was after me. The only way you'd get knocked down by a purple pot is if: a) you were were pvping someone, decided you were losing, and started to run. or b) you were farming and caught off guard by a pk who dumped exp and eb on you, so you run. I think the use of purple pots are within control and not an exploit of game mechanics if you ask me. Stop dying, geez.

No need to be irate and b*tchy. it's just a game. Relax and have fun. Welcome to UOSA =) And lol did you start an account just to whine about dying from purple pots?

simple fix is make it so pot timer is random, some times its 3 seconds sometimes its 4 seconds, that way throwing them cant be automized...

there are no one that automatizes pot throws!

and if there is, they would blow themselves up most of the time. as stated more than once, if a person A is using a macro for "double click pot, wait 2.8 seconds-or-sumtin-like-dat, click blue guy." potion would blast right on/in them if target is out of range (which is not so hard to do.) they're just using a hotkey for "click purple pot" and one for "last target"

just make a recall macro or think about a tactic to fight back.

I'd like to report an Energy Bolt exploit as well as a weapon exploit.
