I need help with skill gaining im not sure what to make ive read around read the guides

Here is what I made to get to GM:

45 - 65: Cutlass
65 - 85: Short Spear
85 - 95: Plate Gorgets
95 - GM: Plate Gloves

everywhere i look im supposed to be making short spears at 65 smithing well i waited till i hit 68.4 smithing which is 71.5 in fake something here is fishy because i cannot make any spears yet?

Looks like you got that info from the long blacksmithy thread in the guides section. Heres what I've done so far with good gains.

50-65 = cutlass
65-75 = kryss
75-85 = short spear

At 85 I switched to long spear but wasn't sure if it would take me to GM since its the last thing someone said they used. As I read more and more I found that some were making plate gorgets at 85 and GM'd so thats what I did last night. Used between 1.2-1.5k ingots (before smelting) and got up to 86.x smithing. I'm going to switch back to long spear (I made 10 and it got me .1 before I switched) and see how that goes.

This is what I've done so far; I've yet to decide whether to continue using spears or do the traditional gorgets/plate gloves to GM.

Thanks. I'll use the long spears to ATLEAST 92 smithy and reassess at that time what I want to do. Can you keep up posted on your progress?
