Improving the shard's community
I thought I'd carry over to this topic from the one about griefers. Derrick and the staff are doing a great job of maintaining and improving the era accuracy and playability of the server. What I'm wondering is, what can we as players do to help improve the community. I know that I spend 99% of my pvm time soloing and rarely do pvp. In T2A on the OSI shards, the dungeons had more ppl, which led to more interaction, pking, anti-pking, etc. We are developing a larger player base right now, but people are spread out soloing or macroing mostly. Here are some ideas to get the player base interacting more.
1) Actively recruit people into groups to go dungeon crawling
2) Make more, more active guilds
3) Have dungeon-crawl nights (i.e. everyone takes over some dungeon from the entrance to the last level) Think "Take Back the Night," but against mobs.
4) Get on IRC/Ventrilo (still working out some technical problems on the 2nd one) for some trading, PK alerts, etc.
Anyone else?

Re: Improving the shard's community
I donate to new players on the regular and help them get set up.
I'm also known as somewhat of a hero to the GY regulars
Wylan and co tend to run at the sight of any spell being cast, so really we just need more players to stand up for the newers ones.
Also, explo ebolt every thief on sight when possible

These are great idea, and thanks for them.
Player led dungeon crawls would be wonderful. We'd be happy to announce via broadcast, forum and irc a pre-organized and public dungeon crawl led by players.

Re: Improving the shard's community
The only thing that keeps me from playing here is lack of will to start up on another shard. After 9 years of this game, the only thing I find fun or somewhat rewarding is high-level PvP, and I can't force myself to sit through another round of getting established.
Re: Improving the shard's community
It would be a good idea if every lets say... Monday and Wednesday a gate opens to a particular dungeon and a broadcast displays letting people know of a dungeon crawl and have some incentive to go to that dungeon. (Double or an extra half of gold per mob?)
But Guilds are doing very well at the moment from what I can see.
If you are looking for a solid guild with good interaction and we go on dungeon crawls every now and then (about once a day) - make an orc!

How about this Thursday at 7 pm Pacific time (10 Eastern)? I'll lead a raid of Covetous as Paul Bunyan. Players can assemble at the town crier at the West Brit bank 10 minutes beforehand. I have a limited ability to gate over there, so I'll need some help in the form of an event gate or some other mages. We're going to clear the dungeon and afterwards maybe just hang around for however long ppl want. I'll bring some extra bandages for ppl/res.Derrick wrote:These are great idea, and thanks for them.

I'm looking forward to seeing you there if I have my internet back!
Of course, PK's come and you all run off PvPing and miss your rewards... like that ratman invasion in Brit GY... CURSE TG!

I'll come protect everyone from Deacon
That way people will have an extra 7 seconds to escape.

Unless we take our entire crew there. Then you guys got approximately 0.01 seconds to escape.
On a more serious note, how about starting an anti-pk guild against cr3w? Be fun if we had to watch out more everytime we went out pking, knowing there might be an entire gank squad waiting for us.

That would be weak sauce if pks came to try and crash the party, but it's their funeral.Sivrik wrote:Unless we take our entire crew there. Then you guys got approximately 0.01 seconds to escape.

Aye, I pretty much help anyone and everyone I can. It'll only benefit the community by doing so.

Errm, thats a bit late for me but I can probably make it for an hour or so - hopefully. I'll help out with gates and stuff and see if i can bring some guildmates along for the fun
