UO Second Age

I logged in today and saw Leprechauns are back this year.

This is now the 3rd opportunity someone has to get Leprechaun clothing/mugs.
1st being the 1st year they spawned.
2nd being the anniversary bags random loot.
3rd being today when they have spawned again.

Rares are a very important part of the economy. Why keep adding the same rares in over and over when they were given out just once on OSI? As a rares collector what would be the point of obtaining any Leprechaun items? Seems like they will be back next year and the year after that etc.

Are we going to have the same X-Mas gifts given out every year endlessly?

How about another Clean Up Britannia?

Are all items of this nature going to be given out endlessly?

Id like to hear a staff members opinion on this because if holiday items are going to be given out every year endlessly I can stop wasting my money collecting them now.

We do try to come up with different rares for each year, but some years we just don't get ample enough time to come up with something new, yet reasonable. In those instances (such as this year's St. Patrick's Day), we fall back on previous years.

Theres too many rares as it is!

I think that there should be another CUB, only this time the trash can should only take "rares". In return you get points (based on the itemid value of the rare) that can in-turn, be spent at the local NPC vendors.

I know thsi St pattys day came at the same time as a large patch that was being implemented. For obvious reasons the patch > st patricks day rarez :<
I did submit a bunch of ideas for this/valentines day (every holiday really) to try and make it easier for em, but it goes to show you how busy admin are taking care of the real stuff

My time has been realtively tight lately. I do expect things to loosen up a bit soon.

I don't know Derrick... it seems we are enjoying this shard for free, it's well maintained and administered on your spare time....

I'll take the same old Leprechauns over a short term basement shard any day.

Personally my opinion is we don't necessarily need rares for every holiday. However having these types of things does give the shard a feeling that staff is active and doing something nice for the player base.

Should just keep holidays simple. 5 possible "drops" - randomized to prevent everyone from having everything. Holiday handouts are worthless, not because they are repeated each year, but because of the quantity available at the time.

How many 2009 Firecrackers did I end up with? Well about 500, I trash barreled almost all of them to "do my part" in cutting down on items. I also trash barreled over 600 pumpkin bombs.

Give out less, keep the holiday "rares" less common. I don't even know why people call these items rare.
