http://forum.uosecondage.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=5350 this guide = money for the rest of your UO life here. I used it when I first started and have been able to easily pay for everything I've needed across multiple characters.

Afraid I don't have lots of spare cash for you though but you can be farming Dragons/Balrons in a few days with that build.

going around and killing monsters as a nub is "part of the game"...

i made 8k in around 2 hours last night training fencing (68-83) in covetous. not great but not bad given my primary goal was raising fencing (using a dagger on 1 harpy while i wait for the next to spawn).

i actually feel cutting out the process of being a noob cuts half the fun out of the game. i didn't always feel that way but it's been a fun nostalgia kick the past week or so creating a mainly non-macroed character - i've also run into some pretty fun/funny situations with unexpected noobs in the wilderness.

ps. are you the guy from chessy who died to an orc south of minoc yesterday?

Yeah like others have said, where's the fun if you get handed gold? =) Starting from scratch and needing to make cash isn't too hard, the hardest part is raising skills. So I suggest making a crafter of some sort (tailor or fletcher) and make gold by selling stuff to NPCs. That should be enough for your new char to buy equipment, train skills, etc.

Hey Darkstorm

A tip on making money,

Start a lumberjack - learn to use the razor macros so you can cut wood fast. I chop about 5k wood an hour. Wood sells for 3.5k a board, however I don't sell boards. But at 3.5k a board, 5k boards in an hour (timed myself tonight, about 77 lumberjacking and 87 str) thats potentially worth about 17.5k gold.

Razor macroing lumberjacking makes it very easy. I tried to post it in a bowcrafting thread but some of the threads are a little weird in the guild section.

If you get your bowcrafting up to 70 you will never fail on making bows. You make about 4.2-4.5k on 1000 boards making bows at a skill level of 70 by selling to 2 or 3 fresh NPCs.

These are some easy ways to make money brand new, no recalling required, I do it with public moongates. As str and lumberjacking skills go up it will be faster of course but you gotta start somewhere. Keep your newbie dagger, it seems to never wear out. Axes last for 1000 boards so keep that in mind when running out, harvesting, and banking the boards. Keep at least 2 carpentry hammers in your pack to make boards, they wear out pretty slowly, but they do wear out.

Good luck

I always say. Make a fisherman on a second account. Sit him at the little river at WBB and run a macro. You get tons of boots and shoes you can sell at the provisioners. Then at skill level 70 get a boat and go GM fishing out in the sea. Takes about 2 days but well worth it. I make tons from SOS bottles.
