The UOSA Museum is Expanding! Concluded

Post by BlackFoot »

As would knew would happen for some time, the museum as it is has run out of space!
So we have planned our expansion. A brand new castle was constructed for us to move into. Unfortunately, it is completely empty and unfurnished! Not only that we need landscaping, fountains, decorative armours and more!
Now we wont accept just any old crafted goods. We need to find out who are the best in Britannia to ensure the Museum is constructed with only the highest quality of goods.

This is call to all crafters for the largest crafting competition ever!
There will be a series of competitions for all crafting types. Your skills will be tested and judged based on quality of product, speed of completion and creativity! Some will be individual events some will be a pairs or a team effort.

Participants will be awarded points for coming out, winners will receive extra points.
At the end of all the events a grand prize winner will be named Britannia's greatest crafter!

Prizes for each event will be announced at the start of each competition and will vary based on the number of competitors.

Look here for dates and locations of each competition!

The Great Smith Off!!

The museum will need decorative suits of plate mail to guard the hallways!
We need all smiths who think they have what it takes to craft suits worthy of representing the worlds skill.

This event will be taking place at the UOSA Museum Castle, gates will be available from the Britain Smith closest to the graveyard 15 minutes prior!

Smiths need only bring themselves! All materials and tools will be provided.

The contest will begin at 8:30pm EST this Wednesday January, 27th.

Come one come all!

Prizes TBA at the event.

The smith off was a huge success! Thanks everyone for coming out.

It began with everyone being told the rules. Each smith has 500 shadow ingots to build a suit of exceptional plate mail armour. The first two smiths to complete the task moved on to the finals.

It is surprising how fast they all could build this stuff! Very skilled smiths!
In the end though there could only be two to move on! Ol DIRTY BASTARD AND Jorgen!
The final round was a contest to see which smith could take 50 valorite ore and turn it into an exceptional helm in the fastest amount of time.
Both smiths had assistants to help them with the smelting process.

In the end Jorgen was victorious by a fraction of a second.
Congratulations to both smiths!
Jorgen for first place was awarded a valorite sledge hammer!
OL DIRTY BASTARD for his second place finish was a verite sledge hammer!

All smiths did end up walking away with a full suit of shadow armour.
Thanks to everyone who showed up to spectate and have fun with TG outside the walls.

I will see everyone tonight at the fletching competition!

The UOSA Museum Bow Fletching and Archery Contest!

At the last competition it became clear the world is an unsafe place. Thus our next competition will be about craftsmanship, speed, and the use of the item itself!

We are calling all Bow crafters to show your skill this coming Tuesday. You will be required to craft bows with limited resources and they will be put to use to determine who is the greatest Fletcher in Britannia!

Your bows will be used to guard the UOSA Museum walls!

You need only to bring yourself. All resources and tools will be provided.

Location is at the UOSA museum castle.

When: Tuesday February 2nd, 9:00 PM EST.

Prizes TBA at the event

The fletching contest was another display of the vast amounts of skill in Britannia!

Gates were offered to anyone who needed from Britain. The crowd gathered and the fletchers arrived.

The rules were explained to all participants and to the crowd.

Nine stations were set up. Each with 15 boards and 1 feather.
It was heats 1 on 1 of who could create 5 bows , 5 arrows the fastest and show that the bows were usable.

The heats were very close each time but ultimately came down to Lady son and Sin with a grin.

Sin with a grin emerged victorious and took home a very impressive rare stack of arrows.

Lady son finished in second place and was award a second place prize.

Thanks you all who came and all who participated!

The next event begins soon! Be prepared to have dung hurled at you by orcs. (I think this is how they cheer you on)

The test of the Tinkerers!

The game is simple! The competitors will be pitted in a chess match 1 on 1. The survivor moves on to the next round.
The competitors will be handed a very limited amount of resources to create any of the random items in the middle of the isles. Each item in the middle isle corresponds to tools to be used against your opponent.

So take your time and think through which items you will attempt to make!~

When your resources are used up opponents will trap their opponents side.

Tokens will be placed into every box. Tinkers then go back to their side and must pull tokens from the boxes.
The first tinker to retreive 5 tokens and place them in the basket will be the winner.

Sounds simple?

This Friday the 12th at the museum castle expansion the event will begin at 10:30 AM est!
Prizes TBA at the event.

Good luck!

The Test of the Tinkers!

We gathered at the Tinkers Guild in Britain and we began.

Everyone was taught how the game is played and the match ups were decided.
Each player had to decide the strategy they would chose to out smart their opponent.
Some played defense and others went offense.

Each match was close, the race to get the five tokens first really cause a panicing effect on some contestants.

In the end Goldsmith and Matron took their place. They made their choices and the game began.
It was a close one Matron looked like the poison was about to end it when a dart took out Goldsmith!

A very fun match to watch.

Both our participants were awarded theiir prize.

Congratulations to Matron for a First place finish.

Thank you everyone for coming out.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Skirmish of the Summoning Sorcerors - Inscription Contest!

The call went out at 8:30 as scheduled!

Our finest scribes gathered and the contest rules began to be explained.

Some ruffians showed up but realized after about 45 minutes of standing around the courtyard they were bored!

The contest continued on with them patrolling the courtyard.

The first contest was a simple race to see who could copy a book and place it and the original on the table first. It went four rounds before ed won by a small margin.

The next contest was the copying of an unfinished spellbook. There were 9 random spells in each all of the same number from each circle. This race was won by Last Laugh.

This set up the final match between ed and Last Laugh. The Daemon Death match.

Each scribe had 10 scrolls to make any defensive spells they wanted. These would be used to keep their own daemon alive and achieve victory over their opponents daemon. ed took the strategy of making all greater heals. Last Laugh chose a strategy of a combination of defensive spells including bless, protection, cure as well as greater heal.

Eventually, after a well fought battle Last Laugh's daemon named Bee was victorious!

After wards there were a few illegal under the table deamon death mathes that took place. The authorities were not alerted in time.
Congratulations to Last Laugh for his first place victory in this contest.
ed received the second place prize.
Special nod to Eliadne for a well fought contest having to forfeit from the inability to summon a daemon!
Thanks to Safir and Sin with a grin for helping me keep track of the contestants and contests.

Alchemy is the next event so stay tuned!

The Clash of the Cuthroat Carpenters!

This contest will begin with all carpenters having a set amount of time to craft as many square tables as possible with the materials provided.
After this initial stage carpenters will take their place in the corners of the event arena.
This game is simple to learn but difficult to master.

It is a turn based game. On a turn a player has only a few options, they are as follows:

1. A player may take one step in any direction.
2. A player may place a table in any empty adjacent tile. (a coloured cloth will be placed on each table to keep track of who placed it)
3. A player can use a hatchet

The game ends when only one player is able to continue placing tables.
The winner of the game is the player who has placed the most tables onto the game board.
There will be extra boards placed randomly in the arena.
If a player picks up a hatchet they have the option to smash one table (either their own or an opponents). This counts as a turn. Hatchets are a one time use only item.
If a player picks up boards they can use them to craft more tables (doesnt need to wait for their turn to craft tables)

Rules:

Players must only move on their turn and must wait for their opponents to take their turn completely.
Once you have placed a table you cannot pick it back up at any point.
You cannot place a table on a tile occupied by an opponent or a table.
You cannot step onto a tile occupied by another player.
To pick up a hatchet you must step directly onto an opposing players starting point and then your own starting point.
To pick up extra boards you must step directly onto the tile that has the boards.
You can only place tables directly adjacent to your player (not a tile away)

Thursday April 1st at 6:30 PM EST
This will be taking place at the UOSA Museum Castle expansion

Prizes TBA at the event!

The cutthroat carpenters gathered on the rooftop of the recently condemned museum tower!

The rules were explained!

The carpenters began their battles.

Image

Some interesting strategies began to become apparent. Some were well thought out, some ... not so much!

Image

They continued as the board became more claustraphobic until eventually only one remained free to move.

The final battle was one of the funniest. They somhow all managed to get into a stragiht line and box themselvesh aha so good

The event was scheduled for 8:30, we delayed over 45 minutes waiting for smiths. Eventually we had to start and we said as soon as 8 arrive we begin. We had to resort to a system message just to get up to 8.

Every single smith in Britannia who showed up to this event on time was able to participate.

Sorry didn't go .. thought about it wanted to .. but I had company tonight and was even late restocking vendor and checking forums.. This limit does seem unfair .. ( I was not there but if I was able to make it finding out last min that there was 8 smithy limit?? would seem unfair)

You called for ALL of Sosaria not just the first 8.. Now I do not know how the event was held or ran but I think if it could be scalable then it should be .. and I also understand resource problems with such events rather it be with iron on hand prizes/gold on hand ..

So Plz explain why this event sounds like it was so closed door .. if its a resource or gold issue maybe I can help .. or if not maybe I or the rest of the shard could come up with some ideas to more support such a "highly reguarded player event?" more scalable to the expected out come of players ??

Just my thoughts

edit * sorry I did forget to say thank you for daying anything at all .. this is what makes UOSA so great..
