I've seen multiple people who have either advertised more then 3 ticket numbers or seem to have acquired multiple Christmas items.
Now the first part does raise alarms because we're supposed to be limited to 3 accounts. I know of one occurence where the person was helping out a friend who couldn't log on which is understandable, but there have been others who have said they "inherited" an account or they knew someone who quit... and I'm sure there are those who have more then 3 accounts outright.
For the second part, I know some people bartered/purchased items other then those they got through their tickets, but there are some that are suspect. Like the thread in the trading section right now advertising the sale of 3 holiday ticket items while searching for the matches to 3 more. It may be legit, but it also creates the appearance of impropriety.
So where am I going with all this? Basically, I want to know what can be done to prevent this sort of abuse of the system in the future. It's not a big deal really, but it does effect things.
More then 3 tickets?
Re: More then 3 tickets?
It definitely affects things but it can be really hard to catch and prove in most cases. I've logged onto my friend and brothers accounts to retrieve their tickets (not cash them) because neither of them have working computers at the moment, but I'm pretty sure that is legit.

Was there a surge in new accounts during the holidays?

I may be wrong, but I seem to remember seeing Derrick say in #secondage that logging into anyone elses account for the sole purpose of getting tickets is bannable.Hemperor wrote:It definitely affects things but it can be really hard to catch and prove in most cases. I hope I get a response from a GM about this, I don't want to seem like i'm just making stuff up. I really do remember seeing that.
Re: More then 3 tickets?
I don't think that would have effected it. Account age or character age or something came into play.archaicsubrosa77 wrote:Was there a surge in new accounts during the holidays?
They would have to be accounts accessible/maintained at least for some time.
And I don't really see making sure someone gets their tickets (but not cashing them in) as a big thing. I'm not really against helping your buddy out, so long as your buddy actually plays.
It's the ones who are so obviously doing it for personal gain.
Re: More then 3 tickets?
We did end up banning some accounts over this.
There was a gameplay requirement which cut down dramaticly on the abuse though.

hemps scenario sounds legit. If he isnt going to take the item or prize, just get the tickets onto the accounts so when they get back up and running they can get a shinny that sounds cool to me. Im sure we all know what its like missin a holiday cause your computer failed :<

<IronfistMax> tell me where you are in game, and ill come thank you personally
Mad_Max: blackfoot you sent everyone to a slaughter
