Another stupid question about sheep farming..

Well I know about the closer they are together the less spawn back or a slower respawn on them.
Does this include levels in buildings? If I had some sheep one floor level 1, then the same amount on floor level 2 directly above would that count as them being next to eachother?

wool dont spawn as fast if sheep are close together? This is news to me but I am not really a sheep farmer. Where is the post on this?
