UO Second Age

I've got a tamer at about 62.5 and am trying to figure this out. I just tamed an obviously pre-tamed horse named "a" in Delucia and gained which I didn't think you could do. He's there now named Ace at the bank. I've also been gaining on a lot of panther fails in the last week or so.

Is everything working right? I just want to be able to tame and control frenziees at 77.1.

I suppose it's possible that the horse was bought from the stable and then released, and that the trigger for counting something as a pretame is "has this been tamed by a player before", not, "has this been controlled by a player before".
