I resign from this server.
Alas this server has grew old to me not much interest in this or much luster in this game anymore. Half the time i grow so bored i go about being obnoxious in uo hehe. The pvp here somewhat bores me and the pvm ive just had too much of that. So i have decided i am quitting this server and uo for several months for when i find new will to play. So i guess it has been fun here for a while. But past few months just does nothing for me. Ive had more joy decorating houses with cloth. [ auctually its quite amusing] Well ... cya. [to make sure i dont come back i delated my characters]. Well i guess short story is i just dont like it here. Ive never quit a uo shard till now [well excluding osi when it went lame]. Dont get me wrong i respect the work derrick did here and im impressed its just i dont have fun here like i have on prior servers, i mean im sure most of the others players do. But i play a game to have fun not to be irritated or bored by its mechanics. I dont get that thrill of uo off this shard. happy uo.

Let me guess, you're bored because you can't kill anyone?
Yea it sucks, we need some change and fast before more quit.
Re: I resign from this server.
pretty much that i rarely kill anyone and im rarely killed unless u get those freak acidents where u do 40 damage ebolts. tbh when i started dueling here i was like "eww" other then that there isnt to much wrong with this place.

10% of all my fights are actually epic and very fun. The rest of them are just blah blah blah.

There's really a number of things that could be tweaked to regain people's wanting to play here.
Resist may be too good.
Well I hope the pvp mechanics get better so you come back, peace!

Sure people do quit, but the same or more start here... Even if Derrick were to change pvp, completely negating his goal and everything he does here, there would be no way to everyone happy... People would miss this pvp, or cry for another.

You are not an agent of those other servers are you? Most players I see who complain about pvp are like ubber noobs to this shard or whom I have never seen ingame ever.

Re: I resign from this server.
How about we take a look at these other shards and compare them with UO Second Age?
IPY - First major shard to hit a thousand clients upon opening day. Azaroth catered to the PVP community non-stop and the population declined by 80% with in a year with it shutting down shortly after.
DFI:T2A - Second major shard that started out with 500 clients the very first day. The shard took the same approach trying to be accurate even though it wasn't even 10% accurate to the era. The shard listened to it's PVP community just like IPY and was sitting at an average of 10 clients only after a month of being released.
Divinity - Third major Pre:UOR shard that started out with 750 average clients upon release. The shard used the same scripts as DFI since the same developer there jumped ship utilizing them in a merger with Zippy's rebirth scripts. The shard collapsed caving into the same PVP community and has lost well over 80% of it's population since too.
What does all these shards have in common?
The same game mechanics that virtue is requesting to be changed that either never existed or are from the UOR era. The last time I checked Pre:UOR means before the UOR era, not vice versa.
UO Second Age - Has a clear goal and started out with an average of 10 clients upon opening day a little over a year ago. The shard has growed to a wopping 600 clients at peak and 500 average since that day. Why? The shard doesn't cater to one particular group unlike past shards. The shard is actually replicating the time period they are based on unlike those shards. That is what makes this shard different from the others and the reason it continues to grow and thrive.

Re: I resign from this server.
I may just be repeating Faust's points, but they bear repetition, as every week someone complains that the shard does not suit them and they post a threat (that they may or may not follow through on) to quit in the vain hope that Derrick will recant the Era Accuracy policy.
This shard does not cater to any particular style of play. You don't like the PvP here? Sorry, but perhaps this isn't the shard for you. You don't like the roving bands of PKs? Perhaps you would be happier on a shard with Trammel.
There are always, of course, the responses along these lines: "If you don't cater to player type X, then this shard will die." Of course, this shard isn't anywhere close to dying. It is stronger than it has ever been. It is because the shard is Era Accurate (+ plus shard stability + staff professionalism + a good community + Hemperor).
Finally, of course, are the passive aggressive ninnies that respond to these posts: "This shard would be awesome if it were Era Accurate, but it isn't and I know this because of fuzzy memories and a general dislike of some feature or other." Go to the Era Accuracy forum. Get some evidence. Your memories and preferences are not evidence. Quit complaining about a free service that largely works as advertised. I can't even imagine the work that is put into it AND IT IS FREE.
None of this is meant to impugn any particular person, even the OP. A sincere farewell message to the shard may be something of value, as you will be leaving behind many people who may interact with you on a regular basis. But the above discussed reasons for posting such message are bad ones.

Re: I resign from this server.
11 posts in all and 3 of them are in this thread. It is obvious you haven't really connected with the players or even made known who you are. I am sure you would have more fun getting to know everyone. I haven't interacted much ingame my self but keep up in the discussions which keep things interesting for me.
Start chars from scratch, That is always fun and a must since you deleted them. Hope you find the interest to come back. I can tell you that there is not another era accurate shard like this one.
Good luck

IPY -
DFI:T2A -
Divinity -
UOGamers: hybrid - 500+ clients constantly for the past 4+ years
DFI: UOR/AOS - 350/200 clients constantly for the past 6/4 years
Both cater to pvpers.

Re: I resign from this server.
Both are neither Pre:UOR servers.
What are the numbers on their Pre:UOR servers?
Thanks,
Faust
