do you have a good net for uo?

Post by Mephilic »

http://www.pingtest.net/

post you results and lets see. For some you may not be performing at your max speed. The lower the "Ping/Latency" typically the better your net is for UO. Packet Loss you will never want any of this. For those who score horribly on this you may want to contacting your ISP or think about getting a new internet provider.

My net is utter rubbish. My flatmate went with Orange "Unlimited" Package because it was cheap. Two months into our contract they started moaning about or net use being excessive and in breach of their Fair Access Policy (a policy that wasn't linked from any of the ordering pages on their site). So our "unlimited" broadband got capped at 128kbs (ISDN speed!?) between 6pm and midnight every day. Seeing as we don't have a TV and both stream loads of BBCiplayer and 4 On Demand there was no way we were going to be able to keep within their usage limits so basically we're stuck with it till the contract is over. Thankfully thats in a week or so.

I emailed the C.E.O. and suprisingly got a reply, especially seeing as I wasn't exactly polite, but all he did was palm me off to some tool in their executive office. They basically refused to give us the service we paid for despite me pointing out they shoudn't sell a unlimited package that is actually capped at 40-60 gig per month and how their Fair Access Policy doesnt take streaming media or multiple user households into account at all. They did however add a link to their F.A.P. on their website after twenty odd emails. Not a victory, **** Orange the ****s.

I am very happy with Verizon fios. But of course I still suffer from the latency issues that arise from connecting across the continent. I'm in Oregon, west coast, and the server is in Virginia, east coast. So I still ping about 150 to UOSA. But at least there is no loss and the connection is very stable.

yeah. Sounds like alot of hops before you get here im fortunate tough. I ping at 55 here which isnt so bad. The only thing i got against Verizon is there hopes they have. But im not sure if this applies to fios tough.
