Blacksmith, min skills for weps
I'm not sure where we got the values for our skill levels needed to make certain weapons but our table doesn't even remotely match

under "blacksmithy" I remember once you hit katanas you'd ride them pretty much all the way to GM.

Re: Blacksmith, min skills for weps
What's the date on that? It's not on the page itself
Re: Blacksmith, min skills for weps
Oct '99 is the link that you have to follow from Web Archive...for what it's worth this table aligns with my memory as well.(quit before UO:R).
I think the Blacksmithy we have here is more aligned with RunUO defaults or possibly demo(still can't figure how to connect to the stupid thing)?

Re: Blacksmith, min skills for weps
I'm not saying you're wrong or that the page isn't from Oct 99, but frequently despite whichever date I click to go to UO Stratics on the Wayback Machine, the links from UO Stratics don't always open as that date.
Ex: This is the Oct, 12 1999 UO Stratics page, however click on Parry Essay, it's from 1/1/2000.
To be fair, the majority of the pages that do have dates are from before 10/12/1999. It's a great place to start, but it couldn't hurt to keep searching for information.

Re: Blacksmith, min skills for weps
I too have noticed more up-to-date modifcation dates, though the blacksmithy doesn't have a date on it, the essay states:
This essay confirms the tables, listing how to GM:
Also with that up-to-date modification dates on many of the essasys, you would think this would have been modified if it changed between Jan '99 and Jan '00smithy essay wrote: The information is based on Client-Version 1.36 as of January 1999.

Re: Blacksmith, min skills for weps
Good work, I wonder if that would make GM blacksmithy more or less expensive
Re: Blacksmith, min skills for weps
Bump...I know it's proabably a p.i.t.a. to implement but would add a lot to era accuracy BS, especially to those of us who aren't GM yet.
Re: Blacksmith, min skills for weps
Thanks for the bump.
If looked at addressing this a few times previously and it's going to take quite a bit to fill in the gaps in the inforation from the links posted; but we will try to address this soon.

Thanks, been holding off on BS for the nostalgia factor as this is how my pea brain remembers it.
Re: Blacksmith, min skills for weps
I've started a smith, and have been using this Maximum skill gain chart.
I'm not sure if this formula matches the 'classic' second age rules, but it seems to be working so far -- I started at 50 and am nearing 65 now, making scimitars, krysses and war forks, and it seems to be working OK. I *think* I've been through about 4000 ingots, but haven't been keeping track of them as I should..

Re: Blacksmith, min skills for weps
I recently GMed blacksmithing from and I did:
cutlass to like 52 displayed (? I remember switching to katanas pretty early)
katana to like, 86 displayed
and then plate gorgets to like 96 displayed
and then plate gloves to GM.
I would say it took somewhere in the range of 26k ingots, smelting everything I made.
