evidently you only read the posts with your name in them, look at the 2 posts before yours where your argument is refuted before you made it.

I agree whole heartedly. I trust Derrick and his choices for staff/moderators. I DO NOT TRUST A FACELESS GROUP who want to make their own trade forums!!!!!!!Sandro wrote:Lol look how many edits in this thread by staff.
I got a board warning, who else got one?![]()
Anyhow, I still believe the current setup we have is more than sufficient to our needs. We just need to have the rules enforced more often, and if need be, give Blackfoot & Dr. Faustus the ability to temp ban users from the trading forums when they (continue to) troll.
If you all want this to work, someone trusted will have to be the public face, and Derrick will need to vouch for it, otherwise I will rail against this with everything I have.

I assume you'll stop using #uosatrade, which you're an op in, since derrick hasn't vouched for it.Brules wrote:I agree whole heartedly. I trust Derrick and his choices for staff/moderators. #uosatrade is not maned by a faceless nameless group with an unknown history. It was created by Matron as an alternate to the official trade room which was considered by some to have biased and flawed moderation. The ops in #suostrade are known individuals with a history of honest interaction with the population of the server. It is an alternative only and it not meant to replace/was not asked to be created to replace/not actively trying to replace #secondagetrade and is not being portrayed as such (that I know of).
So if this new forum wants to be legitimized, someone better step up and be the public face of it, or else no one will ever trust it, which I do not.
If said group can convince Derrick to support them while remaining faceless and un-named, I would support that as well.
As it stands now, with no one knowing who is running it, I dont trust it one bit.

@uosatrade
It seems the first step to take for legitimacy is to appoint some moderators that are respected, will this be done?

Re: The new way to trade! uosatrade.com!
Mods specifically being put in place for trade forum moderation would solve the whole problem.
Staff wouldn't be involved, and would be able to put it off to someone else's discretion.

At the end of the day, it is still someone's personal website. I don't think any of us have the right to go about claiming how it should or should not be ran/moderated. Use it or don't. I don't understand why this topic is such a big deal. I am 99% sure that Wise and the other super merchants are mad that they didn't think of this first.
The in-game opportunities are fantastic really. Sponsored guild/shop of the day/week, feedback etc..

Re: The new way to trade! uosatrade.com!
What's to think of? This is in no way some ingenious idea...in fact Derrick SAID he wished someone would make an off-site place to conduct UOSA's main trade...
The problem here is simply: Who is running this, and are they running it for legit reasons?
If they are, then great! Lets make the transition.
If they aren't, then it needs to be shut down.
If people are to dumb to make a separate user/password and they get hacked, that's their own fault imo.
Either way, the site needs time to establish itself as a reputable place before any decision on the current trade forums here at UOSA can be dismantled IMO.
So debate on that topic shouldn't even be going on...
Perhaps instead of shit slinging people can conduct business on this new site, and post testimonials as to how it went down.
Otherwise, quit worrying about it and just appoint some people with trade forum banning power and that should solve the issue here at UOSA.

[14:17] <UOSAPlayer4056> cr3w guild is a joke. Ran by staff members, multi client pking, this shards a joke and a half.

hardly mad, I have had http://uosamerchants.com/ for over a year now, though never promoted it much after the first few months, I dont think a seperate trade forum is a TERRIBLE idea but I do think it being ran anon is, I said as much as I think I could on this topic, I am the first to accept and help promote new ideas so long I as feel comfortable to put my name behind them, this I do not.
plus in the spirit of things I don't feel its the right direction for a 3rd party system to be a forums

Re: The new way to trade! uosatrade.com!
I retract any implied endorsement of uosatrade.com, however we need to realize that an alternative is needed. I think an auction system akin to ebay is a better solution than another forum. I've been shown the light.
Re: The new way to trade! uosatrade.com!
My preference is keep it on UOSA forums, but increase the moderation/powers of trade forum mods that are volunteers and pulled from the player base. As has been said, give trade forum mods temp ban power and let them do what needs to be done. This whole uosatrade.com thing is only an issue due to the lack of rule enforcement and oversite in the uosa trade forums. If Derrick cant staff it, then by all means let the players help mod it and enforce the rules. Toss out a few temp bans and the kiddies will straighten up. Add in a feedback system to the forums....pretty simple fixes that will make everyone happy....

That wont make me happy and adding in a feedback system is additional work to continue to support a sub forum that the staff has said they don't want to be here.Brules wrote:My preference is keep it on UOSA forums, but increase the moderation/powers of trade forum mods that are volunteers and pulled from the player base. The best part of this post is where you suggest a feature of uosatrade.com be added to the forums here.
