As much as I am for ridding ghosting, its not going to go away. If the server is going to be as critical as making sure you cut each bandage one at a time for "era accuracy," they aren't going to implement any restrictions on players being able to play as a ghost, due to "era accuracy."

charging for an account is era accuracy.. I understand that's illegal.

Have 3 accounts per IP... but you can only log into 1 of these 3 accounts at any given time. If you want to increase how many accounts you can log into concurrently.. then pay money for it. Just like back in the day, ghosting did occur. But at least not every single person will have the option available to them as they won't want to pay for this ability.

Thank you pro, this is exactly what I was gonna say. I use my own ghost to check for ghosts and it works, people need to not be such cry babies

so what happens when you see another ghost there? you just look at them? lol
like i said already im playing either way.. no crying from this corner sir.

P.S. it is ok to argue things.. it does not mean you are a crybaby. If you are saying you are going to quit in light of certain changes.. well then maybe you have a case.

you're right, fighting inaccurate gameplay with inaccurate gameplay is a perfect resolution and deems no further discussion.

while were at it, everyone please start macroing resources on 3 or more clients to fix the problem of others doing it.

also, if you're house catches fire please be sure to fight it off with fire rather than calling 911.

I get what you're saying about it being completely unreasonable for someone to be able to do this, but the fact remains that it will affect a lot of other aspects of gameplay if multiple accounts are taken out. It's a question of how much you want to sacrifice the risk for convenience.

I have to believe that the admins had the foresight to know about ghosting, but if they didn't then they should change something. If they did, then we need to sit back, do whatever you do to relax, and play the -GAME-.

how would it affect gameplay? you don't have to remove people accounts or consolidate them... simply make it so you can only have one connection at a time from any given IP

Single IP is a very bad idea. Trust me. It instantly alienates anyone who has someone living with them that also plays.

There are lots of ways to take care of the ghost problem without having to go to single IP. Many have been mentioned here. Single IP is hitting a fly with a sledge hammer.

Another thing:

Not sure if it's possible, but ghosts should not receive any health updates. Currently they can view health with the already inaccurate "Health Percentage above Character". In the demo you cannot view anyones health whatsoever.

the answer is simple...spy on whomever is ghosting figure out who is aiding them or who their alts are...and grief them like there is no tomorrow.
For example I know a trick to make impassable objects you cant pick up or move, that will stay that way for some time until it decays...and as long as you have some attention given to it it won't. You can figure that out later.
Let's just say without access to houses the PKs won't be happy campers. But hooray for IDOCS!

I don't understand why people say ghosting is inaccurate. On siege ghosting was rife and all the big guilds had some spare account with a ghost char in it. We aren't trying to emulate the behaviour of players in era we are trying to emulate the mechanics of the era. Anything which was possible in T2A should be possible here and that includes ghosting. 10$ an account really is nothing, I had 4 active accounts when I played OSI and I knew many people with the same or more...

not inaccurate gameplay it was just rarely applied during osi

Not to mention that hiding/stealth basically allows riskless scouting within the game mechanics...Not one defender of ghosting in this thread has listed a valid reason as to why this matter doesnt at the very least be considered to be addressed.


Cant beat em, join them is not answer.

Seeing 300 Unique IP's and 900 clients is not what people want to see in IRC....
