Yeah, seriously, what was there like a dozen people fielding all around the GY?
Even I was there to get my weapon stolen then spend half an hour or so trying to track down the thief with my replacement weapon so I could smite him, verily.

Yes the same dozen people I see on a weekly basis off and on. At 8pm on a sunday. That does not make up for the lack of anything after 12pm server time. Events lead to people doing other things in the real world.

]bring back events, just don't have a schedule and announce them in game 5 minutes prior.
i don't even get why trammel/loot on death is an issue anyway. tournaments are generally held inside someone's tower/castle and looting will get you a swift ban from the premises. nobody enters these with the hope of looting a gm halberd and a bunch of regs. other events like survival are not even really possible without GM intervention.
the majority of player run tournaments fail badly or are just cancelled due to lack of interest. automated events were great in that sense, just show up and double click the stone if you want to enter. the event itself runs like a well oiled machine.
it's just frustrating to attend player run events, where you don't know if the start time may be delayed by 30 minutes, then the organisation during the event might take another 30, the fights themselves over an hour... possibly standing around bored and frustrated for most the event. not something a player who dedicates a few hours a week to UO is going to undertake... and it shows with the low turnouts and high number of flat out CANCELLED tournaments.[/quote]
Bingo. If you dont want people to just log in for events, get rid of the schedule, make them random so people will actually have to PLAY, not just log in when they know an event is coming, which I think also could boost actually playing.
Era accuracy is a BS argument IMO because if were doing that lets get rid of everything on this shard that didnt exist in era. No more dye tub hued sandals [delete, dyed masks [delete etc etc
OR do the alternative and give people a way to obtain these items thru game mechanics and a system tailored for this era.
We dont need staff to create "fun" for us, but I do think they need to create content. Not asking for a handout, asking for a way where its feasible to obtain newly created items. Instead of trying to outbid the most wealthy people for things. I dont a huge problem with the silver system other than the fact you cant obtain silver anymore.

Ya know. This is UO. Why sit back and wait for events?
Make your own. From other threads, it sounds like TS has a lot of cash.
Why do you need everything on a silver platter?
Sounds to me as if people are spoiled. Make your own fun.
This is Ultima Online. Not World of Warcraft.

I'm pretty sure noone in this thread is "sitting back and waiting for events", or they wouldn't even be here.

Seems like some are.
Maybe its cause I'm new, but I'm having a blast.
Make your own fun. Create events. Hire security. Do it outside of town. Watch mayhem ensue.
