Vlast, for someone so concerned about shard PvP (fielding). Ganking random people, hiding archer bots in your town.. I mean.. never have I seen such a huge hypocrite. There would be 8x more action in your own town if we didn't have to worry about you guys running to your tower EVERY TIME you get low, and it happens... EVERY TIME. Why you're complaining about events, I have no idea.

I thought it was really cute though when you said you were going to destroy the magics 1v1, and got RAPED.
Note: This is not a TG hate thread. It is not about how you think TG pvps or what TG does. Please refer to the Trash talk section of the forums as this is about enhancing the shard through the removal or limitation of events. Just because a TG member started the thread does not make the topic any less viable.

I took this quote from Choppa in the trash talk section.

Choppa X wrote: The dueling here is all about who gets hally hits while spam ebolting. Everyone can tab, everyone is quick, and it really just comes down to who gets the hally hits and non resisted ebolts in sudden death because any 1v1 between two semi-equally skilled people will just about always go to sudden death unless something crazy happens and one of them completely fucks up. Mainly because of this I have not been playing as much anymore, since all there seems to be is nonstop tournies and non-existent good fielding guilds that actually fight you even numbers

He's right though Vlast, like I was saying to you in IRC before, you're being a giant hypocrite.

This really doesn't hold any weight to be honest, and although I have no personal quarrels with Choppa, he stopped playing one time when the events were originally taken out. Not to quote him but it was something along the lines of basically saying the shard sucks since there is no more tournaments.
Sandro wrote:How about keeping a schedule for events but removing the ability to look up the time it will take place.

That will at least force people to be online and looking at the screen to catch an active event.
This is by far the best resolution that I've heard, I think everyone should seriously take this into consideration. Personally to add on to what Sandro suggested, I don't think there should be any set schedule, it should be completely random. The tournaments don't even necessarily have to be on the hour or half hour, it could start at for example now 12:52 pm.

Removing events is not going to pull good fielding pvpers out of the woodwork that will fight even numbers. They havnt been hiding in their houses waiting for the day events are gone. If they arent here now why would they be when events are gone all of a sudden. I dont understand the logic.

Last night, 3/03/10 there was no tourney or event, and the GRAVEYARD PK WAS CRAZY. I saw tons of different guilds and pvpers out just having fun. Every group sustained some deaths and their was really good oldschool fighting (no, no one was guard hugging it all happened to the north). Just seeing that made me realize how important it is to remove or limit these events. People started UO with field pvp, and when theirs no event or tourney to wait for, they will always go back to their roots.

First of all, I'm not sure if your in another timezone or what, but the American evening (UOSA Prime time) for 3/4/2010 hasn't happened yet. Second off, if you meant 3/3/2010, there WAS an event, a CTF that happened prime time.

[00:07] <MatrondeWinter> 8 hours from now.....
[00:10] <Vlastslav-TG> yah the gy pvp was badass last night
[00:10] <Vlastslav-TG> granted there was no tourneys
[00:22] <MatrondeWinter> [00:21] <SecondAge> The next event, 4v4 PvP Tournament will open in a moment.
[00:44] <MatrondeWinter> [00:27] <SecondAge> 1v1 Crafted,Pots&Poisons Tourney is scheduled to begin in 1 hours, 31 minutes. (3/5/2010 2:00:00 AM)
[00:45] <MatrondeWinter> [00:36] <SecondAge> Second Place were: Treemeister, Legendary Wizard, Legendary Wizard, Hypnotize Minds
[00:45] <MatrondeWinter> [00:37] <SecondAge> 1v1 Crafted,Pots&Poisons Tourney is scheduled to begin in 1 hours, 22 minutes. (3/5/2010 2:00:00 AM)

if you look closely, you can see that there was 2 solid hours of events, followed by another one starting in an hour and a half. If you take into account the time it takes for people to restock before the first heap of events, ect, you can say that we had about 2.5 hours of events, with a 1.2 hour gap until the next event. In this 1.2 hour gap, I bet people take a break and stuff, until the next event. From the looks of things I am right, which means that events essentially distracted from the game from ~10:45pm until 2:30am or later.

This is just silly, there was absolutely no reason for me to even log on and play this evening.

These big streak of events are exactly the thing i hate. IMO there should be a weekly tourney and possibly a npc copy of the 1st and 2nd person on display at the next event. Then the winners of the events will have some plus "status" for that week as the "champions" and their goal is to maintain a winning streak while others attempt to take that spot... adds some better competition to the events.

We need alot less of these damn tourneys AND they need to reorganize these CTFs so there not always at stupid times. I personally always ignore the tourneys but i enjoy the CTFs. However, for me the CTFs are almost always between 1am and 10am (except for 4v4 which is not as fun as 2 teams)... During these hours I and many other people have better things to do then log on. Before i was attempting to keep track of the CTF times so i could hopefully be available for ONE but that would hardly ever happen and now i find myself never looking at the event schedule anymore - hence i gave up.

so it is the length of the events that are the problem?

It's their timing and frequency. Hour long 1v1 makes sense, yes, it's going to last that long. Problem is that they are taking away from actual gameplay because there is so freaking many of them. I come here to play uosecondage.com, not test.uosecondage.com.

well, after a couple of hundred posts in the many threads on this topic i'd say that the people who dislike the current event system have many different reasons to do so. to reduce them to single statements like "they are too long" or "they take away from field pvp" is an oversimplification.

personally i like the idea of fewer and totally randomized events. would be a step in the right direction, imo.

Tournaments are special, please only host them on Friday and Saturday. So far this week, out of 4 days their has been 13 tourneys, not including other events. I predict 17-20 tournaments by the end of the week which is just insane. We are playing UOSecondageEvents right now.
