GK, next time you do a noobie dungeon crawl, if you do, try and set up a few anti-pks to tag along. I would be happy to volunteer.
Truth is, I primarily hunt reds on a red. Sadly, I can often freely tour and farm all the spots without seeing another player, red or blue.
It's true though... Uosa can be tough to get established. Get tougher, smarter, and make friends. But above all, develop a thick skin and learn to love dying. Eventually you will be able to turn the tables.

and collecting heads.

Tis the typical response for non-trammies.
Tis the typical response of a naive newbie that hasn't experienced the overflowing grief of a neverending supply ok pks that leave you no sense of " I will take names and get them back later". It's more like, "I'm going to have to join them or die".

I actually asked a few pk guilds to be the antis. They kindly declined. The antis are usually the pks...just an fyi.
This has been the main reason that most people don't trust people when they say they are antis. They know that they could save you on one character and come back on their pk to clean up the loot.
The pks on this shard are like a bunch of fat white guys piling up to go to the nude beach, scaring off the women.

I've seen plenty in 15 months. Just because you aren't clever enough to see other options doesn't mean they don't exist.

You have to stay and get established in order to get "clever".

Learning implies time to learn and a an atmosphere that fosters learning.

Yeah, because questions aren't answered in IRC, the forums, or in vent. In fact, Britain has reds in it. You don't look at things realistically. This shard has a culture, and unlike other shards the only thing harder to do on this shard is make a statement. Thus, everyone who comes here and realizes that they're not the superstar that they believe they are ends up as another half-filled brick/L-shape IDOC.

im not saying im totaly new to the game. every server has pks. its just this server values it true sandbox nature to do whatever we want at any given time. pks will be pks. i always run a no loot policy for my pk minus pvp gear (regs/bandies) no armour unless using a dexxeer

non the less.. i plan to roll around on a red myself. after i get myself a good steady supply and see how pvp is. i myself may turn around and form my own anti pk char and find a way to get new players involved with that.
-introduce new chars to pvp. (teachs them the basic survival factor of the game)
-help them build names for themselves.
-teach players to work together and form group tacts. ect.
- stop hate on reds.. cause if you really got 3 newbies..with semi decent skill ( if they are going to a dungeon should be able to be able to apply something to the fight) they should be proficient enough to semi work together.
--maybe reds make a promise to not ride horses while killing thy innocent? id be down ;p

In the 4 years that I have been here, the "culture" has only degraded with every new generation of player. This game isn't PKS and Blues, though, we are being portrayed that way. Look at the results. The reason for the creation of this entire thread; Dungeon wasteland.
The system is one sided and the pks here have no intention of changing. Eventually, they'll quit out of boredom and players will farm again for a minute. That is, until you notice a pickup again. The same process will repeat itself until you quit. You don't continually kill endangered species and then expect them to return en mass.

Your dooms day scenarios that you introduce make me believe that the right wingers are at your doorstep right now offering you a lobbying job. Just cut it out. I farm, as evidenced here
viewtopic.php?f=38&t=58356 Farming is ezpz, you would know that if you ever left Skara Brae or your museum.

This shard has been a lot of fun. I like the rule set here as this is the point I quit OSI after release of Tram. GK's dungeon crawls (attended two) were good fun till we were decimated at the end. Why swarm an event murderers? Occasional hit and run is fine but to come in and kill everyone on a crawl? How about some civility, honor and shard spirit, especially for an event? I hear the same people who gank and run in groups complain about the invis/recall, really? What other defense does one have with aggro and you bearing down on them? If your such a badass why not run by yourself and attack groups of two or more? Maybe they'll be more likely to fight you. I am not labeling all reds... you know who you are.
Staff is great - no problems with them. Server runs smoothly and it's longevity is one of it's strongest points. Latest GM events were a lot of fun. In game friends that have moved on have gone to progressive shards - ones that are changing and adding to the content. If your product never evolves yet your competitions does, your going to lose "customers". Be a puritist if you like, it may cost you. Or take features away from said product that "customers" liked and your sales will drop. This is a bit conflicting - at the same time I admire that your being your own server and sticking to your guns. One house per account or actual owner needs to refresh not his buddies doing it for him!! There is no magic bullet and the sway of opinion takes time. With many shards to choose from now, with greatly expanded content it's a tuff market. You've lost market share... most companys would try to reinvent themselves. Over all hats off to the owner and staff cause I can't begin to imagine the TIME, hard work and money you've spent!

To be fair, and somewhat play devil's advocate to what Vega is saying, the danger of farming drastically goes down when you travel in a group of 2-3+. I think the main problem with that, however, lies within a few fatal mistakes that most blue players make when farming.
1.) If you go solo, go with the knowledge that you could be killed at any second, either by a red, by monsters, by lag/disconnect, whatever. It's that risk that should make sure you always come prepared with pouches, pots, invis items (if necessary, if you don't have the hiding skill)
2.) When farming either solo or in a group, never stay in 1 spot for too long. Switch it up! If you hang around a spot farming indefinitely, eventually you'll catch someone's eye. If you keep moving around from place to place, you'll be harder to track.
3.) When you're farming in a group, make sure that your group is going to back you up and PvP if need be. If you're in a group of 2+, but the second a red comes along, they immediately recall out and leave you for dead, what was the advantage of the group to begin with? Most PKs aren't going to risk fighting 1v2 or 1v3 (if they're solo PK'ing) and potentially taking stat loss. They're looking for easy, secured kills with minimal risk to themselves as well. If you do manage to fight off a PK and make him/her recall out, refer back to #2. Don't stick around and wait for them to group... something about sand people being easily startled but being back with greater numbers.
TL:DR- Be smart, be prepared, don't get greedy, and make connections in game (be social!) to have power in numbers when venturing out and about.

Correction: If I ever logged in.
I have done everything that I couldn't ever do in actual era. Also, a few things extra.
I got my pvp fill on my first year with my warrior and my hally mage. Personally, the UO:R pvp system is much more balanced and fun. Really, though, I wouldn't login to another server, so, I just don't play.
I spent the next 3 years helping people and giving things away. Again, with every new generation of player here, I have wanted to do less and less. People here have become entitled and their attitudes are poisonous. People were lacking in their gratitude early on, but now it is just found wanting.
Your playstyle is more "you" based. I drank the Kool-aid from the first day. I made my playstyle, "everyone else" based.
Maybe my attitude toward the game and the people here will be vastly different than yours, because of the way I spent my time here. You probably wouldn't even see where I'm coming from, the difference is so great.
