"This is why RP events on this shard will consistently suck and be a disappointment for the RPers involved."
No, 1000 X NO.
I can say, without any shred of doubt or jest, that I had the best time in a role playing game, in many many years, just this Sunday, and even the following day.
All the coordination of all the different guilds, the participation in the VesperDefense IRC channel, and guilds and random player alike coming together for a grand event (even with flaws) comes just shy of bringing a tear to my eye as I type this.
I am a passionate gamer and RPGs, Ultima specifically, hearkens to my inner child like no other game could possibly attempt. Meeting up with everyone and rallying around the city of Vesper, then carrying on with the entirety of attendance to the Urks (noteably most RP guild around these lands) Fort for an epic battle against a beast that required what appeared to be all the dragons and men we could muster, plus about 20 summoned daemons.
Then, as if I weren't already near busting full of gaming goodness, the following day I spent some good times in the field fighting off an overwhelming spawn of monsters along the road between Yew and Vesper. I grouped with some folks I have never seen afield before, along with some friends, and we watched out for each other and fought side by side for the good of Britannia, without need of understanding who we are, because what we're about was obvious.
I can see I've gone off a bit here, but I've had a few drinks and really, that statement struck a nerve. Please don't take it as lashing out at you, but really a vent about my passion for what went down, and what goes on right here in the good old UOSA!!!!

Not true, the bloodrock had a blast. We just wish it woulda lasted longer. It wasn't a disappointment in the least. As for trophies, thats why I dont' support them or hand them out. People need to show for fun (whether that fun is roleplaying, griefing, pvp, etc)...not because they want free l00ts.
Brymstone wrote:
RPers will have to plan on people bringing everything, including the kitchen sink if they think it will provide them the means to get one of them-thar shiny trophies. That's why I don't think offering rewards such as trophies and other pixelated forms of eye-candy should be included in RP events. People that show up to these events should do so for the fun of it, nothing more.
It was expected that dragons would be brought. In fact, I expected more. There was just a break down in communication and we had thought the staff were watching to 'drop our surprise' on dragons but they were expecting us to notify them. As with much of this series of events, its a learning curve. As ive also said, we expected more mojoka support and we had some people back out last minute due to real life. Dealing with dragons as warriors isn't easy.

This would only work if those same pets dropped their current target and went after tames. Otherwise, the chances of the spawn hitting dragons would be null.
Not to mention, 200% damage isn't really that much more.
In addition, I think this would just encourage more dragons because you'd need to bring more to fight the spawn.
A player option would be fore everyone attending to just turn on any tamers, lol. A staff option would be to solve the existing tamer related inaccuracies. A seer related option would be to simply ward off or insta-gib dragons.

So you still want the staff to take care of everything for you that you deem "unfair"?
Unless it was patched out, you still should be able to provoke a tamer's pets onto one another.. Or use one of your "Mojakas" or w/e you call it and simply gate them out maybe?
There's really a lot of options how to counter tamers, other than asking the staff to [tile balron on them everytime a tamer walks onto the screen..

I didn't say I wanted that, I said those were viable options. I was told you can't provoke a tamers pets on each other...though ive never tested this.

What keeps tamers from just spamming "a kill" every second and hitting last target? Provoke is on the skill timer.

Why do you guys keep saying we think things are unfair?
Look Ronk doesnt get squat out of these things other than the enjoyment of interaction with many people. The only reason he is concerned about the dragons is that in large numbers they can ruin the fun not only of the 15 or so URK on,but the other 65 people that may be there enjoying the event.
One tamer with 10 dragons or WWs is going to end the event quickly, while its not a big deal to us to die and get looted, that just pretty much ended the fun for everyone. If you dont want to come out and have fun thats your choice, other people enjoy it.
Please dont think we get "stuff" from these events,we lose far more equipment and supplies doing these than we do doing anything else.Ronk spends hours of his time setting up and co-ordinating,along with Derrick and the staff, and I personally would like to see more of them.
Not necessarily all URK either,if you have a problem with URK getting more crap like this than your guild, then step up to the plate and organise and set up one of your own.Dont hate cause Ronk and the staff are harder workers than you.....

This is a feedback thread. No one here, as far as I have seen, have been trying to pick a fight.
Getting feedback is usually to get people's opinions, not argue with them.

The URK's need to find a weapon that can deal with dragons and ww's easily.....maybe pray to their gods for a weapon that would negate dragons and WW's. I am sure their gods would be happy to help them deal with them.......

Wasn't "dragon bane" added as a weapon mod in or sometime after UO:R? Similar to silver for undead, but x2 damage to dragons?
I don't know that's really the direction that this should be taken, but it seems that it would be feasible to accomplish Brules' suggestion.

Id prefer to get off the topic of dragons. Does anyone have any other non-dragon related feedback on any of the events? Good/bad? I think most concerns/prasies have been spoken but we'll see.

Am I doing something wrong here?

I like to imagine Sultan of Swing strutting out of his tower in a lime green zoot suit and beating the ever-loving bujesus out of the orcs with his walking stick. All while the Big Bad Voodoo Daddy's play "Baby Bye-Bye" in the background.
Maybe that's just me.
