I'm sure there are a fair few folks that have more than one UOSA player in their household. I guess, like you say, exemptions could be granted on a case-by-case basis with the staff observing/interviewing them. But it does seem like a lot of hassle for the admin. Their call really.

You get to play t2a for free on a server that is fully supported and constantly patched/developed by people that give up their own time to do so. What makes you think you are entitled to anything more?

As someone said, if you play with your 2 stepsons exceptions could surely be made. It would be easy to tell if someone was lying about playing with family.
And yeah, in response to archaic - the sense of entitlement you have is ridiculous. Compensation? For what? For playing for free as much as you want?

So if you made and perfected all five of your characters on one account you are in the clear...that's bull.
Shard wipe or nothin'.
Only thing I'd agree with.

At this point there aren't many people supporting 1 account per IP, just 1 account logged in per IP.
That means all the work you put into those other accounts would still be there.

I am pretty sure that Derrick has stated in the past that he will not end up taking away any additional accounts or put a process in place that would remove the ability to use these accounts/characters through legit means. I would not be worrying about something like that at all if I were any of you. If something is ever implemented to resolve multi-clienting it would still allow you to use your other accounts/characters. Perhaps, not all at the same time but still accessible even on a LAN. We will just have to wait and see if it's ever done... I just wouldn't be worrying about losing your accounts or the hard work you put forth into your additional characters because it won't be happening.

I know we aren't strictly talking about 1 account per ip, but if we were . . .

Oh I agree with you there. The only way it would be fair would be a nice big reset. I used to play a Neverwinter Nights persistant world (shard I guess

) and they had two wipes while I played. Getting a character to 20 there, especially a rogue, took an inordinate amount of time and loot was
very hard to come by. That said each time they wiped, and took all my hours of gaming (loots 'n levels 'n all the rest) with it, the whole experience became fresh again. A level playing field is a damn beautiful thing and a wipe is a great time to fairly implement large changes like this. It doesn't kill free servers, if anything it encourages growth by giving new players a chance to make their mark and established ones a new challenge. After all, once you have it all what's left to do?

Hey NP, at first I was advocating what you feared. In retrospect, just having the 1 IP logged in limitation would be a HUGE step in the right direction.
The only hurdle would be the very small group of users that play from the same router - and really, exceptions could easily be made, with the threat of a lengthy lockout for dishonest abusers of the privilege.
Honestly I don't see what the reason is for the policy that permits multi-clienting. To make things easier, more dumbed down? To discourage player interaction? To give players willing to macro and script multiple accounts an enormous advantage? There really is not one good reason I can think of.

really i wouldnt worry about anything that is said in this thread or the others period until derrick steps in and has his say if he so chooses... it's all talk from non-admin people up until that point.

to fluff the client count and all things that a larger population, or what seems like a larger population, entails

I'm not going to say "sadly" as most do .. but I must admit this is the first time I've completely backed and posted to support faut. I'd bet my accounts that Derrick will never make anyone lose anything other then fault of their own .. Not even saying some thing like this is likely to happen but if we went to two account min .. I'd bet that if you paged in timer period given accounts chars and items would be moved or given a choice to be made about your accounts .. I would never thing not any rule change etc if something happened would cause anyone to lose anything they really wanted needed .. if they react .... Derrick just isn't that kinda guy to not give EVERYONE every chance .. if some thing happens in the future reguarding accounts .. I'm 100% sure .. that if you check in weekly bi weekly you will know about it and have a chance to have some say in the matter of YOUR accounts..

I have no problem just being logged into one account at a time.

.
I just don't want to lose all the work I have put in unless we all started from scratch.

ok people... for the last time... this thread is not about losing accounts and it never was... you can still have your 3 accounts and use all 3 of your accounts... its about the connections to the shard per ip simultaneously

To think all people who multi-client arent in the least beneficial, or social in the community you are dead wrong sir.
Umm, I'm not sure if this is directed at me. I would have to assume it is.
I'm not really sure how you can read what I wrote, and turn it into whatever it is that you just interpreted. I never once said anything about anybody individually contributing to the community.
what I said was that multi clienting itself does absolutely nothing positive for the game community. It's not rocket science. How can you argue the fact that being able to run multiple clients enables people to do things with themselves that they would otherwise have to do with another player? How can you possibly argue that? I'm not saying anybody who multi clients does nothing for the community as a player. I'm saying that multi clienting as a playstyle/tactic/whatever you wan't to call it goes completely, 100% against player interaction.
They put in more time and effort then you ever hope to.
Really? Gonna resort to stuff like that?

I confused multi-clienting with multiple accounts.
I thought everyone was out to destroy the work everyone put into creating their characters.
Kind of made me upset.
I am sorry....I am sorry
Is that okay?
