This is my blacksmithy macro to make katana's and smelt them. The problem I am running into is that for every time a menu pops up it stays there even though razor selects the item category (ie. Weapons, Bladed etc..) This leads to over a thousand gump options building up on my screen overnight and my crafter to craft all kinds of different items that are not intended to be crafted. ie cutlass's maces kryss's If someone could help me with this problem I would appreciate it

I have noticed this occuring whenever I modify a macro somewhere in the middle, like turning a katana macro into a halberd macro. Most of the time, I don't get odd things being created though, and simply logging out closes the 1000 windows, so for the most part, i have just ignored it. One thing that always does seem to fix it is simply remaking the macro though.

I used this method for 50 to GM. It took 41,500 iron ingots.

Is the the Kats and Plate gorgets still the most cheap method of getting gains, I see the latest poster used that method. Anyone who has finished with plate gloves could you put up an approximate amount of ingots used? I appreciate your input guys.

Well I just GMed blacksmithy (Meekle Mockle) and I thought I'd share my log with you guys.

cutlass 35ish - 50 3000
kryss 50 - 64.3 5000
short spear 64.3 - 84.3 8200
plate gorget 84.3 - 98.3 15400
plate gloves 98.3 - 100.0 5200

For a grand total of 36800 ingots. Best of luck for all you new blacksmiths.

I just GMed my Blacksmith. Then I hacked the server and made my mule Legendary. Here's how I did it:

0-25: Broadsword
25-50: Heater Shields
51-70: Ringmail Plate
71-90: Moveable Explosion Boxes
91-120: Ringmail Sleeves

Grand total of 18,043 ingots, give or take a few ten thousand. Make sure Tinkering is set up so that the Moveable Explosion Boxes raise your Blacksmithy in the star chamber.

I ran across some threads that says mixing it up provides better gains. Maybe you should put up to 4 craftable items in your macro make some the higher end items for your skill level and some just below?

Not sure how people are getting this done with 35k ingots. Maybe I'm heinously unlucky... but for example... Frisky says 15k ingots from 84 to 98.3 skill making gorgets. I made gorgets from 87 to 98.2 and it took me over 23k ingots. Same item, same skill range.

Anyways... it took me about 53k ingots to GM it from 50. Here is my progress:

Code: Select all

Start Finish Gain Ingots ingots/gain item
57.9	63.7	5.8 3,300 57	kryss
63.7	72.4	8.7 2,896 33	short spear
72.4	82.4	10.0 4,600 46	short spear
82.4	86.9	4.5 3,327 74	short spear
86.9	89.7	2.8 3,000 107	short spear
89.7	91.0	1.3 3,000 231	plate gorget
91.0	93.0	2.0 3,000 150	plate gorget
93.0	94.0	1.0 3,000 300	plate gorget
94.0	95.8	1.8 3,350 186	plate gorget
95.8	96.8	1.0 2,000 200	plate gorget
96.8	97.5	0.7 3,000 429	plate gorget
97.5	98.2	0.7 3,000 429	plate gorget
98.2	98.9	0.7 3,000 429	plate gorget
98.9	99.5	0.6 3,000 500	plate gorget
99.5	99.7	0.2 3,000 1500	plate gorget
99.7	100.0	0.3 1,700 567	plate gorget
I would suggest short spears until around 88 or 90, then gorgets to GM. The kryss was a mistake.

Also... making Katanas is absolutely positively incorrect. They're virtually the same skill requirement as a short spear, but cost 2 more ingots.

I just GM'd Smithing last night using the katana/gorget method. I think it took me about 37k ingots, give or take 2k or so. Was frustrating towards the end, but somehow ended up getting .7 on my last 2k ingots.

My macro keeps making random items instead of gorgets, any one else had this problem who knows how to fix it?

My guess is you're restocking before you run out of ingots, but when you get low.

What happens is, when you have very limited ingots, your menu choices of what you can make changes. So your macro still picks the 5th thing on the menu, or the 3rd, or whatever, and that's something different depending on whether you have 100 ingots or 10.

I'd suggest restocking when you get down to 100 ingots, which I think would have the same menu choices as 1000 or 3000 or whatever you fill up to.
