You guys were creating threads to help him along to be a broker and in that one thread, I mentioned that he was a nice guy but had sold me different shaped jewels on his vendor that he advertised to me as rare and not spawning. I find out a week later that they spawned on npcs you murder.

He replied in his thread that he didn't know etc and I left it at that. I think he is a really nice guy...you just can't always trust "nice". You know who is the nicest guy on the server most of the time? Chumbucket

That is a big problem with this community. Everyone trusts their buddies and would vouch that they are trustworthy etc....It doesn't make it always so. You call out someone you think might be a scammer and the community attacks you. We are on the jealousy/spite system of government here on UOSA.

Live and learn, I hope.

This thread is hilarious. I don't feel so bad now about how I was always stealing from him at East Brit Bank when I would see him there. He would be going through the tons of rares he always kept in his bank and would not notice me half the time til it was too late.

Guy was such an easy mark.

Nice one. :) Thieves are sometimes a bit sneaky, I've lost quite a bit of semi-rares etc. just by being lazy.

As for the "rules" of UOSA being not giving anyone gold or such, this event hasn't changed the slightest bit how I view the people I consider my friends. I won't let one rotten apple ruin the whole barrel - it was a misjudgement on my end, not something that'd degrade my trust towards the people I still consider my friends. If I make a single error but am still left with a dozen good friends, I take that over a few million gold any day.

I'd for example give Telamon, Abbot, Bartez, or any other friend any amount of gold I have if they needed to loan it from me. Not because I know the amount of gold I have is so low compared to their assets that he'd have no point risking his reputation over it, but because I believe he'd not even think of such an option, regardless whether he had a billion gold or not. Same goes for anyone else I consider a friend: I will continue to exercise a genuine degree of trust towards them. Don't get me wrong - I'm not being naive, but regardless of a single event I have faith in my own knowledge of the people.

Loyalty is not an easy feeling to put into words. Nor is trust. But I still believe I have the ability to choose the vast majority of my friends based on the fact that I believe they value these things completely and live intensely in such a manner.

P.S. Nef, you might want to use some other handle as Abra - people pretty much know that one already. While I can't prevent anyone from dealing with a scammer, I can ensure they know who they are dealing with.

It's amazing how greed can cloud the mind, and the greed within Nefarious must be staggering, if he's so smitten by fake-gold, can you imagine how untrustworthy he must be in the real world around real money? It's sad that he thinks having a couple of extra 60k gold stacks in his bank is worth being ostracized from the community, and betraying people who had put trust in him. But such are the greedy, shallow, myopic and never to be trusted.

Well put. One certainly shouldn't let the actions of one little rat effect their future interactions with other people.

I do not belive Marty is Nef, unless he has multiple personality disorder, as I have seen them talking to each other in game. They do seem to be friends, tho.

As a hardcore EVE Online player who came to this shard about a month and a half ago on the recommendations of my brother, the amount of butthurt in this thread is awesome. Especially for what are essentially such paltry sums.

Felix...Consider this a warning.

Anyways, I don't think people generally scam millions and then quit. I think it's more likely that he scammed millions and changed names.

I suspect Nefarious is GuardianKnight...no, wait...I know it.

Thank you! I am certainly used to hearing crying from everyone. At one point, many many moons ago I was one of the ones engaging in the crying (back in 1998 when I was 16 and my guild's keep got looted). But then UO and maturity drilled it out of me.

Yeah but now you're just crying about crying. I'm pretty sure what you're doing is actually taking things to next-level cry.
