All I had to do was read these 3 statements to get an idea about what this thread was about. Just another opportunity for this shard to grow went right out the window.

I wonder if OSI's sales/population increased after they put trammel in.

Regardless, osi was no longer in charge. It was someone else's project to ruin. Too bad. They should of let the original austin team try at uo2 or uox.

not really the person kept at same habits and people got the best of them the funny thing is i never even seen the person and i been helping new players out plenty and i have griefed tons of people as well some people just aren't cut out and really should go play uor

Real question is, can you guys relate to the individuals quitting before they can really get started by the behavior of the community in regards to the forum alone? Keep in mind I am not pertaining to the in game griefing they may participate in.

Pertaining to the Trammel statement, their were other games out such as AC, EQ, and probably others that grabbed gamers attention. There were other factors involved that may have been the reason to the population cut.

Just lighten up, and show a positive atmosphere around the forums once in a while.

Edit: That doesn't necessarily mean the guys I quoted were being negative.

Not really. Actually, I adapted and did quite well in my month here. I dealt with the condescension and the blatant misogyny - helped each new player I saw and voiced my unpopular opinions. I had the gall to point out the mixed message of extending a left hand to new players while slapping them across the face with the right.

Respect to all those willing to publicly put their views out there to be agreed with, made fun of or contradicted. Opinions are like other parts of the body, we all have one. It was the snide and totally punk-ass move of someone with the ability to type into my screen that ultimately caused me to move on. At least ppl here post under their own monikers, meeting me head-on - so to speak.

So peace out, motherfuckers, you get the game you create - much as in life!

This is true: We get, and have gotten, the game we (and mostly Derrick really) create. And it's going pretty well last I checked!

In all seriousness, we need more newbie-welcome brigades, but, at the same time, we don't need to cater to those who complain about being PK'd even if they are new. Ultima Online is tough game, and that is why it is fun.

The one thing that never fails to amaze me is how much risk can be involved with playing Ultima Online. UO is the definition of what MMORPGs should be, its a bitter-sweet balance of risk vs reward.

But hey, if you want scam-free vendors, little risk from PKs, and the ability to keep your loot when you die, maybe you'd be better off playing World of Warcraft.
