Re: SHOULD EVENTS BE REMOVED OR LIMITED

There was a discussion on events not long ago that I thought had some good arguments...

The events here were created as a way to provide content and thus attract and maintain players, but when we're seeing these held every day of the week, multiple times a day, you begin to see players finding content in these rather than the actual game itself.
Why go out and look for field pvp when you can participate in a safe/no risk ctf? Why prove your status as an elite pvper in the field or a hosted tournament when you can wait for the next automated event, where the rules are set to your liking and everything's fair?
Furthermore, let's encourage players to participate in these instead of actual gameplay by creating a system for one of the largest aspects of the server's economy: the trophy point system.
A big part of what made the era so great was that the players were left to create their own path. You could play as you like, but you created your own content, which made the game bustling with activity, interaction, and conflict. The automated events do the opposite, they diminish all of these by offering the players a beneficial way to play outside of the actual gameplay.
As I said before, events should be slowly phased out so as not to be detrimental to the shard's playerbase. As fewer of these are being run, players will be left more and more to find their own content. Those that are simply unwilling to play the game outside of these automated events really don't have a place on a server that emulates the era.
