I like this server a lot, if you want to leave then leave. You don't have to make a big public announcement.
Re: About Ready to Dump this Server
I don't need no stinkin' meditation. You can wire this game to give you 100 permanent mana, silly rabbit. I thought everyone knew how to do that.son wrote:Are you crazy, F12 is meditate
Re: About Ready to Dump this Server
Before you consider writing another word of complaint, take a second to look at forum posts back in 2008/2009. Then take a look through posts from mid 2010 to present and you'll realize that 1) This server wasn't always like this but 2) It has been shitty for the past few years, it got steadily worse, and you're in love with the past. It's gone, never to return here.
I saw a thread a while back that asked what the best thing players ever did on UOSA was. No exaggeration: the best thing I ever did here was quit playing very shortly after a recent comeback. I saved myself from tons of potential useless typing and emotion over playing a broken game and arguing with dummies and the emotionally challenged.
The second best thing I ever did here was record an RPV of quitting, trashbarreling all my loot, and demolishing my main's house (I gave the others away to a friend to prevent IDOC parties). Then sharing it with UO fans across the internet far and wide to spare them the agony of coming here and learning the hard way what hundreds of bitter ex-UOSA players already know. Here it is if you care to watch it: http://www.2shared.com/file/LuF_ccaG/Io ... _1726.html
I'll continue to share that. Staff can move trees and level land here, they can censor posts and ban users here, but they can't do a damn thing about the rest of the internet. Word of mouth built this place, and it can do the opposite as well. Move on and spread the word, Jellico.

Re: About Ready to Dump this Server
just under 3mos...
Same experiences...there are a large number of PK's...
My miner was PK'd this morning in one of the loneliest spot I could find...he was PK'd the day before, by my neighbor, outside my house...I am plotting my revenge at this moment. That is the way of UO:T2A
What I learned...and rather quickly, is that it is much more profitable for a solo player starting out to stay out of the dungeons...you will just end up broke and discouraged.
Sure you won't make the big loots from the dungeons but you also won't be spending that loot re-equip'ing when you get PK'd. There are places in the wild that can be profitable and safe. My PvM'er hasn't been PK'd in quite a while [now I suppose I'll get it at the bank this evening!]
Personally I hpe you tough it out.
oOo
I have not found this shard to be all that difficult, and have encountered several very nice people, reds included, I just don't trust them

Yeah, 5.5 months here. I trust like 4 people out of 200 I've met and 50 I've regularly dealt with. Most are nice, and everyone has their angle. It's just part of the game. Oh, and that guy 2 posts up is really fucking salty.

Instead of personal attacks, you need to reread the OP's post. You missed the point.
He said he's OK with getting PKed.
He's not OK being PKed to the point where you can't move an inch without getting ganked.
Why play if you can't do anything beside die ?
So only, Trammel was invented because ppl coudn't explore Dongeons and other stuff the OP is saying.
The only difference is that when you come to THIS shard, you usually know you're in for it.
BTW, Is there a forum rule against personal attacks ?
Let's keep it civilized guys !

Re: About Ready to Dump this Server
I've been pked plenty of times over the course of 7 months, but nowhere near on the scale this guy and others are claiming and I roll solo as well. I'm in the same dungeons he's in, and I rarely ever see anyone, much less anywhere even close to the amount of pks he's claiming to have seen.
Dollars to donuts he's greatly exaggerating the amount of times he's been pked because he's upset. To that I say, find a guild, man up and fight back or cry on the forums.

Re: About Ready to Dump this Server
I can give you that much... No way to double-check the information.
I play solo as well, and I've only been attacked 2 times.
So on that, we agree.

Re: About Ready to Dump this Server
I refer to reds as 'the taxman.'
You can only avoid them for so long before eventually one catches up with you, although it's not the solo reds you need to worry about, it's the groups. And we all know what specific group of c**ts i'm refering to, esp since most reds I've been killed by have res'd me afterwards and left me to it, stealing a few k gold from my corpse before resing me.
But that's the thing, if you go to a dungeon there's a guarantee of someone ghosting it.
Any good spot in the lost lands, guaranteed to have someone ghosting it.
So make a toon to ghost and check where is being watched before hunting.
Don't forget to remember specific blue names that come in to scope the place out before the usual trio of red c**ts come rolling in on you, that way the next time you see that blue name you know it's time to go.
Recall macro's will save your life, use them.
If you're dexer doesn't have magery, well, suck it up! I got one of those and I'm prepared to fight my way out of danger, or death.
Either that or add magery into his template.
Trust no one.
Find a decent like minded group of people to roll with, there are more of us than you'd think atm.
Deal with trolls in your own way, be it following them out of town so your bard mage can actually land some damage, or box in 20 dragons around their front door and enjoy the show!
Or ignorance.
Too many people online who either momma didn't hold enough, or held them too much, got bullied in RL and now want pixelated vengeance on people who have nothing to do with their problems, or in general just asshats with no friends that believe they can make do with griefing others to compensate for their lack of amigo's.
Then of course there are the people who have been there and done everything, so gradually their toons start turning red, but meh, they're usually the ones that'll res you and protect your mount if there's spawn attacking it until you're back on your feet and re-armed.
Oh! And the most important tip of all?
GET THE F##K OUT OF BRITAIN!!!!
Find a new town.
Anytime I go there I come across yet more names to remember, and a few noobie heads to take home.
Seriously, what is the deal with all these noob toons running around nekkid starting on blues in towns?
Guards!!, or Poison, Para, 50xMagic Arrow is how my bard deals with em, still haven't been started on when using my dexer but I daresay he'd be faster.
Just because there's a lot of people there, doesn't mean anything. Most are afk, the rest are trying to work out the quickest way to kill the bank sitters.
But above all else, don't be a drama queen. No one cares if you're leaving, just don't slam the door.
If you need a hand finishing some training, finding some better spots to solo, or just some people to hunt with, hit me up a shout.

Re: About Ready to Dump this Server
I've been PK'd more on this server in a week than in 3 years of OSI's T2A.
And I'm talking Dry Loot, Fuck your Mount he's dead, tell me that they emancipated my black ass (because my name is Abraham Lincoln), pimple face revenge make you wanna chuck your mouse out the window PK'd
EVERYTIME that happened to me. I thought 2 things. #1 I'm not paying for this server time. #2 Karma is a BITCH!
..... and guess what. I've survived, no, I've thrived on this server. I started in January and have 4 houses (albeit smalls, but that's 3 more than I had on OSI), finally got a 6X GM X 3 (godamn resist), Plus started a Tamer that I've always wanted to do. I've done it *mostly* alone because I play in spurts.
If it wasn't for those *assholes, POS LeFag James, Populous, Mark Twain (Blue PK) etc... I wouldn't have figured out how NOT to die. Sure I make mistakes, but rarely the same one twice. I haven't been ganked in almost a month, with heavy farming and taming because I learned how to defend my self or GTFO.
It has nothing to do with the server IMO. It has everything to do with your attitude IRL. I've been through some shit and have realized that what you "say" will come true. If you think like a VICTIM you will BE a victim. If you believe you're a survivor, guess what? You'll survive!
Question for the OP and others that echo his sentiment: When was the last time you didn't get "the girl," "the promotion," "the winning home team,"?? If your answer is constantly, then there are some really easy things that you can start to do to change your mindset. If the answer is never, then apply the same behavior in this game and persevere..... or GTFO!
and remember.... change your mind..... change your world. It's not what happens to you, but how you react that matters.

Re: About Ready to Dump this Server
I am going to let you in on a little secret, there are guides on the forums that...when used...make it nearly impossible to die unless you choose to stand and fight, are AFK, or are hardly paying a bit of attention.
Granted, if you want to keep playing the game "your way" and not learn the 'tricks of the trade', then by all means, keep dying. Even when I was brand spanking new on this server, I didn't die to PK's simply by having a recall macro, keeping Reflect up, and keeping Reactive Armor up. Toss in the hiding skill for when your EV is working or your provo'd mobs are fighting and its even harder for the PK's to get you. If you're really smart, you'll make a recall/invis macro. You'll search the forums for the guides on how to survive. Then you'll hardly ever die and do quite well.
....or you can keep beating your head against the wall doing the same exact things that keep on getting you killed expecting divine intervention to change something and blame everyone else for your own insanity.
Cheers!

Re: About Ready to Dump this Server
Im kind of new also. Started 2 months ago, but first weeks barely played.
Its true, PKs and Blue PKs are at every worthy place. I recall when I finished my provoker bard, I tried going to elder gazers spot, from which I read it was a gold mine, but I got whacked every damn time.. Because I didn't had a proper escape tool, and because many times PKs would come in swarms, or just visit the place quite frequently. So, I tried for new alternatives.. I payed a visit to Lost Lands and made that place my home for 3-4 weeks. I tried Cyclops but I got whacked also. Terathan Keep was definetely a good place to make gold, sometimes I got raided, but most of the time I enjoyed a while before getting attacked (By now I was able to recall properly). Then settled at Ophidian Liar and there, I made a lot of gold, and a few nice items. I only remembered getting killed..3-4 times while there. I made enough money to afford a Tower... bad news, I ran ALL OVER the world, couldn't place it anywhere haha.. Ended up with a Large brick one instead, fair enough.. im not even using it 100% yet. And I still have enough cash not to worry about.
So.. long story short, look for alternatives. Sometimes going to places where you make pickup less gold, but you can stay for longer its way better than going for the big shot but dying everytime.

You should have paid the Island Tax.
