This isn't real life man. What I mean is you can actually pick yourself up by your own bootstraps in this game.fecalius wrote:If you folks really want new players to stay, the key is to at least provide them with a modicum of support. I couldn't get anyone to give me 150 gold so I could learn healing and buy cloth. I even offered to pay double the amount on another unnamed server for gold here, and I couldn't find a single taker.
If I didn't hear the pvp was really exceptional here, I would have logged out never to return after about five minutes. Just my two cents. =)
Re: No one here is helpful.
My first post here, thought I'd give some feedback from the other side. Reading this thread made me sad a little.
I was a total noob on OSI T2A, so basically I knew very little when I started on this realm a few weeks ago, I quit OSI when Trammel came out because the lack of danger killed it for me. I was actually really happy to find this realm, if a little apprehensive that I would be starting again without a clue and not knowing anybody, but so far on this realm I haven't asked a single person for handouts and I alrdy own a small house pretty much inside the Britain guard zone (about 2 tiles or something away - on the mining wall) and I'm well on my way to saving enough money to macro my mage. Also on my first night I met a guy called Skorne who just offered me 700g out of the blue because I told him it was my first night whilst mining together, I know it's not much in the scheme of things, but it's more than 150g and it was a nice gesture.
I've only even been pkd once as well, turns out it was my next door neighbour angry that I'd placed a house where he had been trying to for ages. In the end it resolved in him giving my stuff back and offering to make any GM items for free if I needed them, I just wish I'd known that before I bought a load of weapons from his vendor!
So yeh, this server is actually pretty good if you're not begging for help!
p.s Skorne if u ever read this I'll pay you back!

It's amazing what can happen when you put a little effort into it.

Re: No one here is helpful.
I'm glad everyone isn't just handing free stuff at new people, it force them to learn and eventually become serious player.
I joined this server 4 or 5 days ago. I have no etablished friends here and i was too proud to beg.
In 5 days i mastered a few skills, made engouh cash to raise magery and i will eventually buy a small house in no time.
My point is, you should be glad if someone help you. If none help, just shut up and earn your stuff yourself like a man.
Maybe i would already own an house by now and tons of regs if i had begged, or i could be even more poor cause of wasted time. In both scenario i would still be a newbie

Re: No one here is helpful.
This is the most pathetic topic I have ever read.
FUCK FREE HANDOUTS
DONT GIVE THEM ANYTHING
If you are going to not stay on this shard because of that simple reason that no one felt like donating a few gp to you, please leave. No one will miss you. Honestly just tough it out, once you got a bit of gold your set to be self sufficent, besides look at the Guides section. You can make gm music/bard for free, get 100/25/100 stats with a simple purchase of a crook with you newbied gold. Then after that you are set for your entire UOSA career. That was just my way going about it.
