Well the trusted people you see here today will do trades for you so you don't get scammed.

i run brokering as follows - (for significant trades)

i have both parties contact me initially in irc to see if they are even on the same page
then i have them both forum pm me exact details, characters being used, items locations, terms

then i forward each others forum pm to the other one, if they both match/agree i meet each one in game seperately
i collect each sides payment

i give them one last chance, if they both agree i swap the items one person at a time

it sounds like a lot but only takes about a minute and keeps a pretty good log

thinking about to make a own broker guild, so its 1. easier to figure out its the real person u r talking to, 2. some ppl have problems with other broker guilds or ppl in it so they have the option to choose mine.

That's cool, though :

#2 No one has any problems with the current broker guilds....it's all forum bravado and trolling.
There isn't a single person who is talking crap who hasn't asked for help from B*B or $$$ brokers at one time or another.

Their complaints are usually just made to get a reaction on the forums.
