I agree there are some bad things about multiple accounts, but not having them right now would simply destroy the shard.

I do like the idea that a ghost could only see players. ONLY players. And could only see them when in war-mode, ie visible to the other players. This would prevent them from ghosting spawns, but would still allow them to see players and get rezzed or whatever. At the least, it would be a step towards curtailing this issue. An end-all be-all solution probably won't happen, but some steps taken would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. If I make typos or mis-read something, forgive me. I just had eye surgery and I am not enjoying myself by trying to read this thread...in the physical sense.

The only problem with this is that spawn "camping" isnt the only problem with ghosts

Dungeons also are full of pk ghosts waiting for a target... I just have no idea of something that could completely solve the problem.

at least if they're in war mode you know someone is watching, and can act accordingly.

Why don't you always just assume, that somebody is watching..

"Why don't you always just assume, that somebody is watching.."
Those who used to play before already assume that someone they meet will attack them or kill them, even if they are blue...
The previous state of paranoia that most of us assimilated from playing on the old shards was a healthy thing and provided the needed tension to properly balance the atmosphere thus enhancing the game.
Ghosting changes this from a state of possibility to certainty, and that destroys the balance that exists in our perceptions of how things were. There are only two ways to restore this balance: Find a way to stop ghosting through GM's assigned to the task/mechanics or for players to counter it with anti-pk operations on the same scale.
The latter being of most promise of course.

The best solution I heard was to make ghosts only be able to see players while in war mode (visible). There are times when people legitimately want to run around as a ghost and be able to see players.
This is a great idea IMO. You have to be in war mode to get rezzed by another player anyhow. Plus it makes you visible to everyone.

speed hacks and uoextreme and whatever else, in that case, are just as accurate and should be allowed *shrugs*
Yes but what about people that had/have multiple computers... I have always had at least 2 computers running UO since day 1. Yes i had multiple accounts (up to 5 at one point), i was an addict. Still am i guess
Ghosting happened in this era... Ghosting is going to continue to happen here.
Only difference i can rememer is that you had to run a macro on OSI to stay in game or you would log out, so you would have to have your ghost say something once every 5 minutes... Here you can sit in one spot all day long and never say or do anything.

Requiring a ghost to be in war mode to see players is a pretty reasonable compromise to the issue in my opinion. That I think still falls under the ideological goals of the shard.

Hmm, I seem to remember this too (the part about being auto-logged). I might have to go in search of proof in order for us to become more "era accurate".

This would not be an era accurate mechanic and simply won't happen, only a rule change will suffice.
This has been discussed many times over in the past already.

Its called an opinion, Faust. It says so right in the text you quoted. People are allowed to have them whether you like it or not.
I have worked very hard to not immediately dislike reading your posts. You don't make it easy.

Why would you take an offense to the truth?
I'm clearly stating what will happen in plain words and there is no reason for you to take offense to it. However, telling you that this has been discussed several times may seem offensive but it's the way it is... Search option is there for a reason and this has been discussed way too many times already.

BobDobbs, will you please shut the hell up?
Opinions were not introduced until late '01.... therefore, not era accurate. Idiot.
