I agree, it would be awesome if Derrick could do that.

My T2A experience certainly wasn't a hally mage, so I can't speak for that. But I do remember dexxers favoring daggers, kryss's, and other fast weapons. The mechanics we have here seem to favor heavy weapons since you won't get many attacks.

Assuming my #1 option above is accurate...it makes more since, in my opinion, to have the attack meter growing on the run. With a fast weapon you'd constantly be cycling and ready and would have far more opportunities to connect with a fleeing opponent.

Also, it seems like the current system was tested by hally mages only. I wish I had been around when it was on test the first time but I think that was my long break from UO.

Why would the movement restriction be lifted on test? There is nothing in this thread except certain people claiming "there was no movement restriction during t2a!". Lots of people also claim that fizzling debuffs shouldn't disturb and that "all kill" should work despite huge evidence to the contrary. Should we patch those in on test too?

Actually there is stuff in this thread. So im guessing you are just trolling to begin the whole circular argument thing again. If not, go read back through all of the pages ^_^

The removal of movement restriction where swings are not held.. has already been tested on this shard. Do you remember when everyone was crying "death of pvp" based on the test shard mechanics? That was when the only plausible version of swing on the run was added.

By everyone do you mean just Spanky? Cause that's the only one who I saw bitching.

You do know that the "movement restriction" and "holding hits" are 2 separate things right?
Why is it always assumed that if the "movement restriction" is to be lifted, so should "holding hits"?

There was a time on UOSA when Grom bitched for SOTR, and it was lifted for about a week making the PvP much better and more accurate feeling... Then it was reverted back, apparently because "it made tank mages way to l337"... Which was not the case.

Does everyone here understand that if we follow the mini-patch to the letter, then we should NOT be able to hold hits on UOSA right now?
"Players using melee weapons in combat will now hold their swing until their target is in range."

Refreshing your hally every two seconds while moving around is a bonus Rose...

I only played OSI from the start, for maybe a year or more. Then quit. I remember people bitch about how easy being a dexxer was. Being a dexxer here blows dick and being an archer sucks as well, all you gotta do is continue running and you don't get hit. Oh well..

Dude c'mon... lol. You can already run around and cycle a hally every 2 second's anyway, and considering you have to stop to cast spell's on a tank mage the movement restriction is hardly noticeable.

Its the dexing class that has a problem, they rely on speed and movement to be effective and do not stop to cast a spell every few seconds.

You wouldn't even notice any significant difference in tank mage pvp, except that there would be less hally blunderings (running up to a target and hally not working cause you didn't make the pause long enough).

Also keep this in mind: The movement restriction is not just as short as a .25 second pause, sometimes it can be up to just under a half second (about .45), depending on when exactly you stop in regard to the global tick timer.

When the movement restriction was lifted for that magical week on UOSA, PvP exhibited a wonderful harmony that pleased a lot of people and created a very genuine T2A feel. I don't think it was perfect, but it was a step forward in the right direction, and I am uncertain as to why things did not stay this way... (please don't say it was because of the mini patch)

There is a difference between moving non-stop for 2 seconds to refresh and moving followed with stopping for two seconds when refreshing a hally.

Ultimately the back and forth don't matter. The claim that ping is related to why things seem off here is incorrect. The claim that someone becomes more powerful if thigns are changed is moot. The point is era accuracy and getting to that.

9 out of 10 dentists agree, something still isn't right.

Ronk, that satement would be incorrect.

I have still yet to witness a proper test conducted under the same conditions that were met back in the summer of '99.

- 56k modem with an average ping of 200+
- PC ran on the same hardware that existed back then, 166-500mhz prcoessor and 8-32mb of RAM.

Would be the proper test for these circumstances.

The test Rose conducted does not even come close to what the conditions were like back then as Kaivan has already clearly pointed out.

Mmm hmm, and I have yet to witness you prove the fact by showing the test you deem accurate. So until someone jumps through every hoop, the claim that it was a network latency issue is moot and not relevant. Whether you claim it is the cause or not the cause, its just a guess. That is the point I am trying to make.

Also, im confused about one thing. Are swings being held here? Or am I misunderstanding what a held swing is? If you equip a weapon and stand still it readies your attack. Then as soon as you attack someone you immediately attack. Is this not considered a held swing? And shouldn't this not be the case here?

Also, FYI, there is a program out there called 'Turbo' which, effectively, burns up CPU cycles. Its great for slowing down your computer and emulating older CPU's. Ive used it before to play old computer games that just wouldn't run now adays.

I had a 15ms ping in era (faster than my 30ms now to this shard) and used to dance around people raping them with a kryss.

This is absolutely infuriating.
