Re: Easy Stat Gain
Yes, you can use other skills with this. But herding is the best skill to use that gives gains in all 3 stats.Dante wrote:Snooping has almost no delay, i gained 5 dex in 5 minutes

Re: Easy Stat Gain
I'm wondering if it still works.... Hmmm...
Also, is there a reason to get to the 700 max first? All the discussion about it being a bug or not seems like it would have to do with that.

Re: Easy Stat Gain
no , you got to see saw your stats.....
Re: Easy Stat Gain
Basically when skills are in the 0-10 range they have a much better chance at raising your stat points. By maxing out 700 skill points and using a skill with 0.0 (set up) you can indefinitely get the best stat gains from using that skill without it ever going out of the 0-10 range.
Oh, and after you get 100 strength from herding I find Snooping works best for dexterity and Item ID for Intelligence. Although I know some prefer Spirit Speak it always goes slow for me. If you use herding the whole time it will take a lot longer. Or you could be really efficient and run an Item ID macro while you herd to speed things up. Since herding is activated from an item you can still use skills without getting the "you must wait to use another...." message. Just make sure whichever skills you use show 0.0 real skill and are pointed up.

Really? It would explain why my last stat session went so slow.TwoTon wrote:no , you got to see saw your stats.....

Re: Easy Stat Gain
right now as we speak i made a macro that...
For ( 1 to 3 )
Double Click (XXX Crook XXX)
Wait for Target (remember to set ur timeout at 3)
Pause .50sec
Absolute Target (Bull)
Target RelLoc (1,0)
End For
Use Skill Spirit Speak
this runs at a fast speed and almost perfectly uses spirit speak on timer reset.
from 51 to 73 str
from 35 to 44 int
took about... 15 minutes. Dex Locked.
Peace out.
OH YEAH THE IMPORTANT PART...
700 cap with 0.0 SS and 0.0 herding. Later

Re: Easy Stat Gain
I just want to point out that this is a defect that existed in OSI UO as soon as the skill locks system was implemented. It is not just an emulation issue. The emulation system is just emulating the defect. It is basically just a flaw in the mechanics of how the skill lock system is designed and how it affects the existing stat gain system based on skill point values. Although using the skill lock system this way does give a player a very unfair advantage during character creation, this issue unfortunately was not caught during the game design as a flaw in the logic when this enhancement was added to the project scope. Hence, we all see this issue still today.
Even though this is probably an issue with the emulation engine that drives the game, I'm sure it can somehow be compensated for in C# in the runuo scripts. I've never looked at any for runUO personally. I believe the best point of attack would be to drop the skill lock system entirely. This is the only way to enforce the SEESAW method that was used in UO in T2A times. I have seen this done on some shards a year or two ago but I do not know if they were using RunUO or an older system like Sphere or something similar.
Good luck to figuring it out. As a QA tester by trade, I have to definately classify this issue as a program defect. I may offer some help if it's wanted. Send me a PM.
Development... Get to work! ;P
Boy... I miss the Archery STR mods in pre T2A times.. To me... Those were the days. Who knew I would go from beta testing UO in my early teens to being a professional beta tester later in life. Playing with new stuff before anyone else is always fun! WOOT!

Re: Easy Stat Gain
We intend to fix this as part of the big patch that's coming soon.
