Stealing by type creates a completely non-t2a accurate aspect to the skill in general and needs to be removed somehow.

Also, dont disallow filter weather, that causes so much lag for some people. I do like the idea of forcing everyone to use night sight though. Auto open doors isnt really a big deal because the UO client itself has a macro that you can just spam while you run at a door, it wont make a difference.
Agree with Matron. I would like to see this happen, but only for things that seriously unbalance gameplay mechanics, such as steal by type, target by type etc, and massive complex, "win button" macro's for PvP.

Taking away the ability too macro would be a step too far for many people.

I got to thinking about this and share the thoughts above and some of the others expressed in various replies.

I think if you change razor too much it will create a severe barrier for new players, not familiular with T2A, as it would be a major interface change.

Certain features should be removed however, but they should be very minimum and the only one I can think of that should be removed is stealing-by-type. This actually is somewhat game breaking as described in Matrons reply above and this thread:

http://forum.uosecondage.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=7025

Filter weather, sounds, buying and selling agents, bandage self, target self, hot keys, macros and many others were all available by UOA. Maybe someone is enamored with playing a hacked version of the demo but removing these features were legally available in 1999 and removing them would not be a step towards era accuracy. It leaves me wondering about the motivation to request their removal.

Stealing-by-type though is detrimental to the game and certainly not T2A accurate.

It is quite obvious most people here doesn't realize how insanely abusive Razor is when using recordable macro functions.

I don't get this. You constantly talk shit here about how awesome your macros are. What's your point? STFU and use them to your advantage if you really have them. Clearly no one else is as smart as you to make them as well, so there's really no risk of widespread abuse, right?

There is logic in the Razor macros but besides that, UOA allowed many of the same macros available here.

Give an example of an abusive macro, besides stealing-by-type, that couldn't be replicated by UOA.

all the things in your original post hemp i alreayd ahve disabled/dont use except for filter weather, i crash constantly if it rains
most of them dont affect anyone other than themselves, so its upto the player to decide how accurate they want to be
i personally cant stand the percentage health things or the Kal Vas Flam [flamestrike] garbage

I no longer discuss abusive Razor macros anymore. I prefer these abusive macros to stay out of the hands of the majority. However, I do know the most abusive macro for a dexer, tank mage, and group guild situation that wasn't possible with ANY 3rd party application back then. I have already told Derrick about all of the ridiculous macros that I know about and these three specifically.

The short version... Recordable Razor macros creates robot pvp, nothing more.

Completely agree with this; nothing more annoying and completely lame then fighting a thief/dexxer who is able to steal pots via steal by type from a bag buried in your inventory that he isn't even required to open to begin with.

It's probably the only issue I have in regards to macros and pvp; steal by type is utterly the low of the low.

Razor does turn the unbearable bearable; I don't play UO for the skill gaining, I play for the end-game content. I don't want to sit here manually clicking mortars several thousand times to GM Alchemy, I don't want to sit here clicking tinkering tools to GM Tinkering. Do I want to sit here spamming random spells to GM magery? I enjoyed some of that during OSI, but it's not needed here just for 'accuracy.'

Razor is non accurate as a whole. If you really want to be accurate use UOAssist and disable razor... What usage for this programm will be left after removing the features we love it for?

Im completely against this. imho this would only end in a playerloss.

And btw i really dont like the suggestions of some vets to cut down features they were able and "privileged" to use since the early days of this server.

Now that they dont need to macro anymore they want to make it tougher for others ? No accusations to the vets but sometimes it looks this way.

This post doesnt concern the steal-by-type thing.

Interesting...

So I could drop stealth, get stealing, and target black pearl by type vs mages? *evil grin*

You could setup hotkeys for every reagant, and actually steal only the things you want.

Ok, stealing by type is much easier now, but wasnt there something accurate to the era that let you steal by type.

I have some memories of a pair of PvP theifs who would always take your pearl right away and remove your ability for most offesnive spells. This lead to the stacking of regs in pile of 5-10.

Was there a era accurate way to do this? (even if it was illegal?)

Also, PvP stealing is not much of an issue with the current ruleset is it? Dont you have to be order/chaos to be able to steal and kill without getting kicked out of the thiefs guild?

The problem with steal by type is either with scams or vendors. Although, wouldnt steal last target work the same way?

So, if last target steal is going to keep scams and trade window thefts still going, the only issue is PvP theifs right? And that is only O/C?

I do have a theif build but i never use him so i dont know all the ins and outs?

I was under the impression that stealing from players was only limited to 'blue players'. Meaning if they attacked you first, if they were grey, if they were red, etc...then stealing was allowed regardless of being in the thieves guild

You are probably referring to the UOE ability that allowed you to keep your snooped target's bag up at all times to allow you to set last target onto any particular item with very little effort.

Saying we should never fix anything ever no matter how broken it is because somone used it before would not produce a very good uo world to play in.
