Re: Parry
I vaugely remember the buckler having the highst percent to parry, and the wooden kite shield as having the lowest percent to block and the highest damage absorb; next to people who can equip a chaos/order shield bieng the best as absorbing damage with a lower percent chance to parry.
Re: Parry
Yep, trapped a wisp in the house and then GMed parry on it. Took foreeever.Arkon wrote:I GM'd parry here using Matron's guide by using about 20 various small animals, and it took less than 2 hours from 30. I don't remember it being that easy on OSI. Specifically, I remember Wisps giving the best gains for me for some reason.
Re: Parry
They way I GMed parry around the time of UO:R (Power hour was just recently released) was using the blade spirit method. I had a friend heal my while I stood there lettnig a blade spirit wack of me. This allowed me to GM it fairly quickly during power hour.
Re: Parry
Faust is right I quit pre UOR and as the time of quitting all anyone ever wanted in ways of shields was still jsut the heater.Eulogy wrote:There was a Parry revision midway through T2A that made the smaller shields deflect blows more often(the white flash) and absorb less damage per hit, while the larger shields deflected blows less often and absorbed more damage per hit.
Before this revision, everyone would just want the biggest shield possible.
After, the diversity and strategy of melee PvP improved greatly.

Re: Parry
I agree, shouldn't be that effect when you successfully parry. That was UO:R stuff.Eulogy wrote:Alright I may be wrong there, but I remember the white flash being implemented with that patch.

Any progress to fixing the current issue with protection items and their charges?Kraarug wrote:Here's something interestesting from that essay...
Do we have this 'feature' in UOSA?Using magical clothing/armor of Protection raises parry skill 9.1. There is a bug that will give you different AR depending on what order you put on your shield and magic item of protection.
Parry started in UO alpha as ‘Battle Defense’ and determined how well you defended in combat. Some time before beta, this was changed to ‘parry’ for shield use. The fact that magic items of ‘protection’ raise parry skill (unlike the spell ‘protection’) is an artifact of the old ‘battle defense’ skill.
Also, can we get the above feature added? That would be super groovy neato.
