The problem with charging vote points for the event gates would be that it wouldn't give non PvPers any benefit from voting.

It would still up the number of current votes by a factor of 10. That's better than nothing right?Safir wrote:The problem with charging vote points for the event gates would be that it wouldn't give non PvPers any benefit from voting.
Well, I suppose you're right, it would still benefit the shard.Kefka wrote:It would still up the number of current votes by a factor of 10. Perhaps it wouldn't have to be rares, it could just as well be resources in bulk, like scrolls, hides, ignots or boards. Or perhaps even rideable llamas or ostards since those will be a betch to get out of T2A. It could even be a bag of regs or bandages. It wouldn't have to be rare items, and it wouldn't have to be trophies (that eventually lead to some sort of rare item), it could be anything already available. Of course in moderation, one shouldn't be able to put player merchants out of business.Kefka wrote:No matter what system you choose, you won't satisfy everyone. Being able to turn in the points for rewards would be rubish. Not everyone wants rewards/rares, you therefore it wouldn't give non specialitem collects any benefit from voting.
That's another point I think should be considered. Up until this thread, all I've read about in-game rewards for out of the game doings is that there won't ever be in-game rewards for "donations", ie real money. I fully support that, but like I said, there hasn't been talk about any other out of the game doing that wouldn't be able to give you in-game rewards. I think this is a point that really needs to be examined by Derrick, and perhaps discussed with other staff and players for their opinion. In other words, we shouldn't blindly be staring at that one comment by Derrick in this thread and instead see past that and discuss opportunities and consequences with perhaps some new ways of bringing players to the shard as a result.BlackFoot wrote:no in game rewards derrick made pretty clear
Well that's the thing. People obviously don't. That is why this is a suggestion to get people voting for the greater good of the shard with some sort of incentive to keep them voting every day.noxmonk wrote:Shouldn't people be voting regardless?
Hmm what if that ingame broadcast appears in a gump form right when you enter the game ?Derrick wrote:One thing that has driven votes well in the past when we were younger was an in game broadcast of a URL, but I hesitate to do that these days; I think I killed a guy in a dungeon last time I did that which was about 6 months ago.
I think most people click off the gumps that come up right away when they enter, having one suprise you like 8 minutes later would probably yield better results.DoRk wrote:Hmm what if that ingame broadcast appears in a gump form right when you enter the game ?Derrick wrote:One thing that has driven votes well in the past when we were younger was an in game broadcast of a URL, but I hesitate to do that these days; I think I killed a guy in a dungeon last time I did that which was about 6 months ago.
